Engine compartment braces measurement needed.

Hi All,
I purchased a pair of engine compartment braces at Carlisle and was told they would fit my 72 Satellite but they are short. These are the braces that run from the cowl to the fender bolts on each fender. Perhaps they are for 73 up?? Not sure if the earlier years (pre 71) used them. They could also be for an A body. I would appreciate it if you had measurements for me on the braces you currently have and what year.

Lemme guess, you asked what they fit and the seller asked what you're working on. You said a '72 Satellite and he said yep, they're the one's you need.

Nope. I still have some brain cells left and used both of them. Unfortunately didn't work out. Didn't pay much so no biggie but would like to get them to someone who can use them.

The one year only ’72 versions are 32” hole to hole on the driver’s side and 30” on the pass side, are about ¾-1” shorter than the ’73 and up b-body version. The ’72s have some unique slight bends as well, do you have pics of what you bought?

No slight bends. Just twist at the end on one side. They are straight. At work but I will measure later. Maybe pics. Thanks.

These are original '72s, note the slight bend in the pass side strut and at the outer ends of both struts.

These are later '73 & up modified to fit a '72. the outer holes re-drilled for shorter dimensions and outer bends were added, needed for hood hinge clearance, both sides. I didn't bother with the air cleaner bend, not needed for the non-A/G car.

The longer one of the two is close to the fender bolt. The other falls in between the fender bolts. Not even close.

I measured 32 1/4 and 34 1/2 inches end to end. Holes are slotted so I will remeasure tonight.

Those measurements are for 73/74, I checked my extra set and that's pretty close, the one that is 34 will vary in overall length as the slotted end might not be bent exactly to fit, but can be adjusted.
