69 coronet 500 trim question

seller claims this will work, these are designed so you trim the ends to fit as long as the center post is the right diameter it should work... Not "correct" but who sees it?

Thing is you cut/trim them to fit the molding and attach them to the molding before inserting them in the holes on the body.... obviously you need to slide them into the proper alignment before installing the trim...
