No problem, it passed, however, when the guy performing the inspection brought the car outside he asked me if the car had a horn. I told him yes and then he started pushing on the center pad with his finger showing me that it didn't work. When I reached in and hit the horn rim, he suddenly became red faced.

we don't have to get a brake tag aka inspection sticker, ever...
Also the license plate and registration never has to be renewed..

There was a mechanic shop where I used to live that was an authorized inspection sticker location.
I could have driven an alcohol burning supercharged HEMI powered car with zoomies in and got an inspection sticker.
I'd probably have to cackle it for them though, just to watch them smile.

When I first purchased a used Toyota Camry, I could not get the high beams to stay on. The "trick" was to push the turn signal lever forward, not backward. (Pulling rearward they would stay on as long as you held the lever back, then the lever would spring back to the when I released it and the high beams would go return to low again)

Part of the reason widowed Dad turned over his Cadillac Escalade to his "lady friend" is that all the dash controls had universal symbols in place of labels in plain English and now being in his 80's he could not figure out what switch did what function.

In NJ, cars over 25 years old are not required to undergo inspection. About the only thing NJ DMV does right. Still have to pay for annual registration renewal though.

My 68 Charger RT...it failed inspection because it had 1 extra leaf spring on the passenger side. True. A bit of explaining was required.

Isn't it 1 1/2 extra?
Also, I would not believe that except for you assuring that it is true.

Oh, I can tell y'all about some inspection stories! Even with the antique plates, cops here as so dumb they will still stop you for no inspection sticker and then you have to go to court and show the judge the rule from the book. Even then, he might 'over rule' the book lol. Once a vehicle here hits 25, there's no more emissions inspection but you still have to get a safety inspection and all the pollution crap still has to be in place. 40 years ago one place turned my car down because the entire exhaust system was hung with heavy duty springs. Told the guy to show me the book that dictates what the exhaust system needs to be installed with. He didn't have time for that lol. The next place loved it and thought it was a great idea. Another place didn't want to pass my 71 340 Cuda because of no heat stove to the air cleaner which had no provision for one (no snorkels).....let's get book. It got passed. Another place didn't want to pass my 13" steering wheel on my first car but a DPS guy just happened to drive up during that little ordeal. The leaf spring issue is a new one one me lol. Dayam, who looks at the freaking springs!!

And an explanation of what a carburetor is to the youngster would probably be in order... :jackoff:

Wow! At least he found the dimmer switch. On second thought, maybe he didn't realize old cars had em. Makes you wonder why we go through the motions. I'm glad Wis has not gone there yet. Probably working on it though. I saw recently cops were stopping street rods and issuing tickets for no fenders or hoods declaring them illegal for road use.

Got to love FL. Thing can smoke like a train be dragging the fuel tank an a dolly behind the car ,cut the roof off ..... And you can drive it anywhere!
