So I bring my 68 Charger in for an inspection sticker yesterday

Salinas city cops gave me a ticket on Main St. for having my exhaust system too low. They had some kind of gadget/gauge to determine if something hung down past where the bottom of the wheel rim was. Problem was, Main St. has a high center, and when I parked on the right side of the street with my tires near the curb, the vehicle was not level.

I changed absolutely nothing and drove over to the CHP office. The office parking lot is perfectly level. An officer came out and signed off my "fix-it" ticket. Score one for John Q. Public.

WOW!!! I have never had to go through a so called, "inspection" for my 66 Ply Sat and my 66 300 I used to have. So tell me...What is the purpose of having these old cars inspected when in most States they are exempted. Just more of the over reach of these entities that impose this kind of BS on us. And I might also add that in most cases our cars are in finer operating condition than all these new cookie cutter cars and trucks now out on the road. Sure glad I live in a State that doesn't require that. Even when I lived in Illinois and California I never had to go through that scrutiny...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

My old W100 runs cleaner than most newer cars today, the inspector was even impressed and said as much. Your absolutely right about our government over reaching.. it's just another cash cow their unwilling to give up.

I got pulled over in my 72 original, rusty, slow as heck, farmer pickup truck with my wife after getting some coffee two weeks ago on grande ave - Arroyo Grande (near Pismo Beach). I was driving 28 mph in a 35 zone. My taillight was out. He gave me a fix-a-ticket. I looked at him and said, I love you guys and are so thankful you here, but seriously, don't you have anything better to do than pull me over on a Friday evening? Oh well, thats CA for you.

No problem, it passed, however, when the guy performing the inspection brought the car outside he asked be if the car had a horn. I told him yes and then he started pushing on the center pad with his finger showing me that it didn't work. When I reached in and hit the horn rim, he suddenly became red faced.

So are you speaking a foreign language?
How do you BRING something......should it not be I took.
Bring me your car for inspection.
Did you have somebody bring it to you while you were at the inspection station?
I'm sure I was taught this in 3rd grade English class.
I will stand corrected if you know different.

Maine, after 25 years we can get an “antique “ plate and no inspection. My RR will pass as long as they skip the emissions. It would pin the meter !!! LOL

The automobile is and has been one of the largest revenue generators the state local and federal Government has ever had. Think of all the taxes collected on just one car then multiply that by millions..... Inspection is a joke

When you first register your car it's inspected that's it. No emission test when car is 25 years old. Registered my 65 Dodge 318 before Hemi install.

No inspection, no sticker in Alabama for anything, new, old, or broken. The only inspection you may get is if you are stopped for a violation or license check.

even we don't have them stupid inspection stickers
in the land of fruits & nuts

where I live we don't even have smog inspection
only the 1st one when it's purchased

shusssssssssh don't give them ******** any ideas

we have plenty of other issues already

Ca = No safety inspections, but we can get fix-it tickets for lots of things.
We also have smog checks every 2 years for cars on their 6th registration year and beyond (most but not all counties).
Cars 2000 and newer are inspected and OBDII connected only, no tail pipe sniffer / dyno. As long as the check engine light is not lit you are good to go.
