I've been using SEM paint for my plastic interior trim, however, there are some pieces that are actually metal, for example the trim pieces just above the doors..these also have a little surface rust on them.

Any recommendations for treating and painting these? Should I use the same SEM paint that I used on my plastic interior pieces? or will it peel off from the metal? What's the best way to treat the surface rust? just sand it off and paint? Or use something stronger?

Those are standard automotive paint. You probably know that they are part of the door but on most cars the rears are removable to paint.

Yeah I know they can be removed...just wanted to make sure that paint intended for plastic/vinyl interior parts would work equally well on the pot metal parts....no flaking, peeling, etc...and if there is any additional prep recommended.

Look up automotive touch up .com or like company. Sand it ,prime it,spray it. I wouldn't use a paint made for plastic in less it states you can. Also try Herb's parts for mopar interior paint.

I've seen herb's paint and wondered about how good it is....says it will work with metal interior parts with the adhesive promoter...I went ahead and ordered it. Anyone have any experiences with it?

On my Duster I ordered the interior paint off the fender code, single stage. Sanded and primed then shot, came out great. Mine was a blue poly metalic so I continually shake the gun to keep it mixed up (put a big nut in the can)
