On the hunt!

When I said a restored "driver", is real world $8000 I bet I am not far off. You hva to look at what people will pay and not what sellers are demanding. Our market has been soft for quite a while, and not getting stronger except with certain models like the Charger. A driver to me, is a solid car, all rust repaired right, maybe the owner shoot it in his garage and a few blems, etc. Pretty much restored, NOT by the big shop. Not saying it did not cost someone more to get it to that condition.

The market for the average 66-7 B body has never been strong. 68-70 Runners, bee always costs more and we know how the second gen Charger deal had gone nuts.

These cars that are advertised at that $12-15000 range and don't sell are OVERPRICED for the market. Same theory with R/E, anything.

I basically do projects cars unless I fall into a nice car worth the $. I know one day I will sell my car, and even though these cars are a hobby, I refuse to lose $ when it sells. So I have to buy the right project car at the right price. Then I have to make sure I do not put more $ into than I can get out if I decide to let it go.
It costs me the same $ worth of parts and materials to restore any given model, the difference is basically what the initital project car costs. If I give $2000 for a 66 Bel and IF I give $10000 for 68 Charger RT, it still costs me basically the same to restore either car, the difference in it all is the cost of the project and what the car IS actually worth restored.

My cars are a life long hobby. You are lucky if your hobby does not cost you money!

The days of finding a GOOD project car, doing what ever amount of work on it and flipping it for a profit, are basically long gone. Costs too much for parts, materials, and good projects are slim pickings!!!

Sounds like you have all the answers and, by your assessment, you should have your pick of nice 66-67 b bodies in the 7 to 8 thousand range.

Good luck with that.

The cars priced at say $12000 for a year and no takers, either give up or drop the price to where it sells. No doubt easier to find that ca for $10 than $8. I have owned many since mid 80's and I still say there are no cars for ale than buyers. I generally have 4-5 cars here for my toys.

I am not trying to step on anyone's toes and tell them their car is or is not worth whatever Just the car that I want, I will tell the guy what it is worth to me.
I sld a Duster other day, because it was the best car for the money. They guy drove hours to get it and was tickled. I could rice it where it would actually ell, because I did all the work, and I did NOT pay to much for it as a project.

My old Mopars are my cheap toys, why I do all the work myself. If I put a BB B body together and have $6-8000 in it, that is TOPS for me!!!! I have had 4 hemi cars over the years and I do not care for them over a good 383 or 440 car. Just me. Thanks anyway
