Do ´67 Coronet R/T and 500 taillight bezel emblem have the same outer shape?

Logically speaking, back in the day MOPAR didn't spend a ton of money on these cars. There's no way they would have produced two different panels just to place a few small indents around the edges of the emblem base opening for the R/T. Not when one panel would do, ( the larger costlier part) and two different emblems would solve the issue ( the smaller cheaper to make parts).

Look at the ad for the part. If there are pictures of the panel without the R/T installed you will notice that there are no corresponding indentations along the edges of the panel opening for any overlapping bits. Shows you that the R/T sits above it.
Thanks Ghostrider. Now I know for sure they interchange. There are no photos of it on the Layson´s website. And since Layson´s did not reply to my question about it, I had to ask you fellas; the experts about it. Thanks to all who replied.

69L48Z27 Your R/T is stunning, I've always liked the 67's but man the trim can eat you alive, you have much will power, many lesser men have surrendered...

Is that a repo panel? I expect not but since the thread is about repo panels I gotta ask...

Look at these pictures carefully, as I have run out of ways to explain it. I know this will work if Laysons reproduction panel is the same.

Your photos show it clearly as it is Jerry. I am now convinced the Layson´s bezel fits R/T and 500 emblems. Thanks for your effort.

You forced me to go dig up parts and take pictures. How badly pitted is your tail panel. It looks pretty good in the photo. Maybe that little extra black paint is covering it in the picture. Both your car are nice from what I see.

It’s the original one re-chromed and the hours and hours of taping a detail painting. Cost wasn’t that much more than what the OP quoted what Laysons wants. Mine was not in bad shape however.

Special T Bill restored the one for my 67 R/T. It's a fantastic job, but I could have bought three of the Laysons panels for what he charged.

Yep, you get a bunch of money tied up quick. I’m sure if I had paid someone to do all the detailing and painting it would have tripled my cost as well, especially if you add in the tail light bezels.

My panel is good enough for the Coronet as it is today (see photo), but the body is due for a repaint and then I´d like to have a good panel to complement it.

I do believe tail panel part numbers are same 500 and r/t. Just change the emblems.

Hi there,
I have a question regarding my ´67 Coronet 500. I am trying to save money to buy the ´67 taillight bezel panel Layson´s is selling for about $1100+. Layson´s web says that their bezel is for R/T´s. I am wondering if it will fit the 500 types too. My speculation is if the R/T emblem on the panel has different shape /dimensions than the 500 emblem. And since there is no R/T ´67 Coronet in my country I can not verify that. With $1100 bucks on the line, I want to be sure. And yes, Layson´s has not replied to a question I sent about this issue many moons ago.

Thanks for replying

Greetings: I too have a 67 Dodge Coronet R/T. I am interested in the reproduction finish panel you are referring to. Have you already purchased one or are you in anticipation of one that will be reproduced. Two years ago Mopar Plus said they were going to repop and I notified some owners and had them call in support of the project but they ended up not
doing the project. So I hope Layson's are going thru with.

I went to Laysons website, and I didn't find the tail panel listed. I to hope that it's being reproduced, also in something other than pot metal.

Way back in 2015 I toyed around with the idea of producing a few of them at home, out of aluminum. Ended up not doing it. I sold mine from my 500 since I didn't intend to use them.

Just for everyone's info. I talked to Dave about the panel and he wasn't even aware of it. He said it must be in development stage. If they were out, you'd think he'd know.

Me too Ghostrider. And Layson´s has never replied my questions about it. So I asked you guys questions about it.
