Rear end noise 8 3/4

It’s not the brakes. Had the drums off in the video and definitely coming from center. Was turning axle by hand. Wasn’t even ridding in it when the noise started. Oh well maybe put some 4.10s in if chunk is coming out

4.10's hope your not planning to drive more than 20 miles in any direction or on the highway. MO, removed 4.10's this past winter. Unless your trans has OD.

No OD. I am leaning towards 4.10 but still haven’t 100% ruled out 3.91 but the 3.55 just don’t pull enough and top out in the range of being scary

3.73's. 4.10s x 26" tire 3500 rpm on the highway getting passed by everything.

With the tall tire tire it wouldn't be as bad. Tall tire 3.90's? Search threads here about gear ratios for opinions.

Edit changed would to would n't.

will do. I’m just hoping didn’t wreck too much in rear end and that isn’t too costly. A gear change at the same just makes sense if going to do it. I enjoy the hard acceleration more than highway cruises. Most drives are 20 minutes or less

Ran 4.10's in my /6 Belvedere for about a year and drove it to work everyday. It really woke it up too. Had very little freeway to get to work so didn't mind spooling it up for a couple of miles.

Wasn’t just the brakes. Ring gear had teeth missing and pinion gear busted up but the shaft was still intact. Disappointed when realized I can not get 3.91 or 4.10 for my 741 case. Going 3.73 for now and will be buying a different center chunk with steep gears for a swap later on and 2 to choose from.

Yeah, that'll keep things from working very well. Man, been awhile since seeing that kind of carnage....
