Once again rebuilt Mopar distributors, all clearances checked, disassembled, cleaned, brought back to factory specifications then re lubed and assembled NOS or NORS points and condensers installed so no premature fails with the junk new components that have a very high fail rate. Then ran on one of my six distributor testers by needed RPM. Can curve also if needed using all oem parts no welding and grinding. Have a few hundred cores to choose from so I only list the completed units don't see what you need just ask.

Ray,

I need a mechanical advance electronic for running tests on new motor builds, and for consistent runs at the drag strip. Basically I'm looking for something you would use on a bracket car, and in my mind that would be the equivalent of an old Mopar Perf aluminum tach drive unit, like the one that used to come in the chrome box kit. Is that something, preferably economical that you can suggest that I can buy new?, or that you may actually have that will work for me? I would prefer to find something built for an RB, with an adaptor to run on a B engine when needed. If that particular unit is too expensive, is it possible that I could just use a distributor with a dual mech/vacuum advance and just don't use the vacuum?? Or would that not give me the desired curve from initial timing to full advance like the tach drive units do?? TIA for any help you can give, Lefty71 (Dave)
 
No adapter here, can make one come in full mech between 1500-2700. either lock out the vacuum advance or not it is easy. That work? Give me curve specs. Tach drives get pricy for what they are. Prob 150-180 depending what parts. You can just use Mechanical if you want if it has the right curve in it already. Prob want 34-36 total.

I think we are on the same wavelength here, but what I need help with is figuring out the curve specs. I don't need a tach drive at all (for a tach), I need to duplicate the curve they used to come with "out of the box". Luckily I still have one here, in use on a car, that I should be able to figure out the specs, meaning is there an identifier to the springs and plate?? that I can use to have you do a rebuilt mimicking these specs for me?? It don't have to be pretty, and it doesn't have to be tach drive, just match up the job that my old one does. Running strictly from memory, that's about 5BTDC initial to about 36-38 total all in at around 2000rpm. Does that help me pricewise if I can use any old RB core, with the vacuum advance removed and set-up as described above?? Thanks, Lefty71 (Dave).

That might be the easiest way to go. What is the least I can get away with, no tach drive, still $150-180, or would it be less? Thanks again.
