I cannot begin to express how important cancer screening is for some health related things.
My wife continues to fight everyday against this dreaded disease
Today I went to see a Dermatologist for a skin related issue. In fact ive seen several and was discouraged by some of them until I found the right doctor for me.
Strip down and put this gown on he ordered me.
He was a older man and no nonsense type of doctor. This guy looked every square inch of my body over and I mean everywhere.
Skin cancer is no joke. Be well and take care of yourselves as well as your family

Praying for you two. I lost my mom to lung cancer about 8 years ago. And numerous friends from other types of cancer. It's nothing to play around with.

I appreciate the thoughts about the wife, she is doing well now. Trying to get her to put on some weight. Ive been told when your older and loose weight due to serious illness, thats weight at times does not fully return. She just cant eat that much. I mean she looks good but cancer really kicked her ***.
Im fine, my trip to Dermatologist was for a skin condition but this doctor said your here and we check you top to bottom and he did. He called it a full service check up LOL.
The thing is some cancers are curable if caught early as we know and as a relative who is a internist told me some years ago the cancers we can cure are a sad thing when they are left to metastasize because we didn't go for check ups.
I want you guys to take care of yourselves and your loved ones as well.

We’ve had a few private conversations about this ugly disease. Your wife and mine - and both of us know the ravages of it and how it effects our families. I know my wife worries to distraction about “it” returning every day. I pray for your wife and mine that doesn’t happen. I also agree with you Steve that we all need to take this disease seriously and get regular checkups so we can cure what can be caught early if we do. I wish I could find a dermatologist that would take the checkups as full service. The ones I’ve been to just give me the once over and ask if there’s something I’m concerned with. Yes - getting skin cancer. Or worse.....

Yep. As you know, I'm a 4x survivor myself - and I've had basal cell carcinoma, AKA one of the types of skin cancer (melanoma).
It's something red-headed (well ok, my hair is still mostly red, anyways :)) fair-skinned person has to watch out for and it sneaks up on you, trust me. I'm still constantly getting things taken off me; the docs don't play when something else appears
these days for obvious reasons.
Don't dawdle, people. Get checked.

I check my prostate for the first time 3 months ago, thank God everything is ok.
I was going to make a prostate joke and then Realized it’s no joking matter. I get mine checked every year. I’ve had several friends that are prostate cancer survivors. Good for you my friend - try and do so every year......

You didn't have a doctor do it? That must have been a sight to behold.

In 2001 my wife noticed a spot on my back that "didn't look like it did a year ago." I had it checked immediately and it was in fact, melanoma. Had it removed, the area around it was cut away as well due to the depth of it and fortunately, it was completely cleared without the need for radiation or chemo. She saved my life. I only wish I could have done the same for her when cancer took her life at age 35 in 2010. Skin-related cancers are among the quickest to kill but also among the easiest to beat IF YOU DETECT IT EARLY. I go back for full skin checks yearly (was every 6 months for the first 4 years post-surgery.) Great advise Steve - guys and gals, if you see a spot or mole that looks unusual or you're just not sure, PLEASE go get it checked right away. Thanks for the post Steve...

Was that incall or outcall service:D

I appreciate the “real” stories here.....

Nobody's want a long finger, cold handed doctor to check the prostate, but that can save your life guys, and since most of us here are middle age + men, PLEASE CHECK IT OUT EVERY YEAR.
