I would like to run a wider tire on the back of my 69RR. I have always like things to match. On the front would be P225/70R14 and on the back would be P295/50R15. I have them on road wheels and would have to buy a set of 15's road wheels. Does any one do this !! Any issues??

Thanks Tom RR

Did that on my A bodies mostly. You case it will look good and most will never notice. Go for it !

I did exactly that for a few years with my 66 Charger.
It should work fine, you can always go to a 15" x 8" wheel on the front later.
Especially if you put bigger discs on it.
You should use a 10" wide rim for the rear.

Ive got the same staggered wheels with 295/50R15s in the back also, and am working on figuring out the best front tire size to use. Currently it has tiny 215/60R14s, and they are way too small. My biggest concern is picking something that looks right, but I don't think I want a larger side wall in the front than I have in the back. Im hoping to get the same amount of sidewall, which is 5.8". Best I can find is a 215/70R14 with 5.9" of sidewall. I don't want more rubber on the front than on the back when viewed from the side. But I have fender well headers so Ic an go too too big on the front. I have to balance header clearance with ride height so my oil pan and exhaust doesn't hit the ground, so its a bit of a balancing act to get it all correct.

Let us know what you end up with and post some pics when its done!

I the good ol' days the popular choice was a g60-14 up front and an L60-15 out back

Are there any good radial sizes equivalent to the L60-15? I haven't found much larger diameter than the 295/50 that works on a 10" wide rim. I would love some suggestions though.

14/15" on both my A bodies. Depending on the look you're going for it works!.

71 340 Cuda....275-60-15's on the rear mounted on custom made 8" rallies and stock 14's on the front. Don't remember the exact size of the front tires but the car still handled well. The car had just a bit of understeer but with a tap of the gas, you could easily induce oversteer! Loved that car and still wonder why I sold it :(

^^^^ I say that with all the cars I have sold... Why ? :BangHead:

A 275-60x15 is about as close as you can get, short of a specialty street/strip drag radial tire. Your 295-50 is shorter and wider.
Coker now is remaking the old pro-trac tires, using the old molds, but they are bias ply, and (in my humble opinion) a lot of money. L60x15, and lots bigger available . Summit has them, jegs too probably.

Yeah, that's what Im finding also. I already have 10" wide wheels, but I would like a taller tire. The 295/50 is too short IMO, at least for the look I'm going for. Thanks!
