Have a 71 RR. I need to take the rear end out soon when I get home. I'll be checking the pinion angle before I remove the rear and if need be, put some in. Isn't the angle should be 3*-4* down? Where to buy some?

Thanks

I bought a real nice set from Summit recently. Dr Diff has some nice ones as well.

Thanks[/QUOTE] That is the Question, have heard several different answers, I bought mine at my local auto part store, they had them in stock surprizingly

Pinion shims, and pinion ANGLE shims, are two different things.
At least the problem was stated and an answer given. Unlike some that think we can read minds and then get mad when questions are asked. But you are right there is a difference.

I got some nice stainless steel ones on ebay.

And as for angle...it depends. If the trans is tail down -5° and the rear end is at +5° up that would be good....but you want the angles parallel when you are driving so figure 3-4° rise in the rear end when you are getting on it and your angles would be off.

Measure the trans angle and the rear end angle while on the ground and see what you get.

Thanks threewood. I thought I had to figure out the tranny angle in relation to the pinion. This will be a learning experience as with anything else. I'm hoping all will be fine sinc everything is new and put right back into its original position but who knows. Things might have changed over the years
