Is there a fix for this? (69 roadrunner )

arrow blades might help. and check the spring pressure, that is in the wiper arm. and use rain-x wont need wipers works great in Florida rain.

You could always slow down, but hell what fun is that! 440'

Are the springs worn in the arms? I've never had mine lift off the window even at 110 MPH. I could see maybe the older airfoil style start doing it due to the large edge on them, but the 68 and up style I'd say your arms springs are weak and worn that hold them down.

Where do I get new arm springs?

Do you have the stock style wiper or the newer "all weather" ones ? I'm talking the wiper itself and not the arm attached to the body. I know on our Ford f350 work trucks the completely covered wiper would lift off the glass. The open style arm allows air to flow thru it.

Rain-X won't work on a '69 Road Runner (and probably several others). The front end is so blunt and the windshield not slopped enough that the wind goes over the hood and right up and over the top, creating a low pressure area over the hood and windshield. Rain drops just sit dead still on the windshield, even at 60 or 70 MPH.

I had the same thing happen while under a horrendous thunderstorm on the expressway. Drivers side wiper arm came off, but thanks to that low pressure area, it just layed there on the hood until I could exit and reinstall it.
