Hello,
I’m currently doing test fitting of the doors, fenders and hood on my Coronet -66. It seems like the hood is almost 1/2 inch “too short” in the front. Are the fenders supposed to be installed against the cowl panel without gap? If so, I will get a little better alignment of the hood and fenders in the front, but not enough though...How big should the gap be between hood and cowl panel?

There should be a gap between the fenders & cowel.....maybe 1/2" or so...same with the hood. Align doors vs. quarters, then fenders vs. doors, then hood vs. fenders.

...but if I align the hood and fenders in the back I will end up with 1/2 inch “too short” hood in the front...?

Scoot the doors back an1/8 to 3/16 then move doors then hood, car then gaps were all over the place, start with rebuilding door hinges

Your picture looks pretty close. Move the fenders back till they touch with a thin card stock between them and the cowl. Then pull the card out. Don’t alight the hood and fenders at the cowl, there needs to be a wider gap for the hood. Move the hood forward until you are happy at the front. Nobody looks at th hood to,cowl gap, your eye is not drawn to it.

66-67 B-bodies have the fenders very close to cowl, if not touching.

68-70 has a bigger gap fender to cowl like purple beeper states above.

Here is a blue 67 Coronet, it’s original paint, never had any panels off. The hood is a bit short on one side at front. These cars were mass produced in a hurry so they are not all the same, the tolerences were wide.

DONT move the doors, you will get into all sorts of trouble with the vent frame sealing to the pillar, and in the rear also. Wind noise, water leaks when washing, etc.

Here is a 1970 see the much bigger gaps fender to cowl. F7358198-2048-4035-9177-3BBA8E59EDC9.jpeg

Thank you very much, this was helpful information!

I guess I just have to accept that the hood is a little bit short. However, if I push the fenders close to the cowl the inaccuracy in the front will be smaller...
