Glove box won't stay shut

I've shimmed and adjusted the lower piece, and if that doesn't work I'll remove the sims from the lower and shim the upper piece. It closes tight, hinges are good, the and the glove box door doesn't jiggle at all. If this eastern PA weather ever breaks, I'll take it out for a ride and see if it worked.

Yea I think sometimes that lower sprung steel bar on the fixed non latch side just wears out and won't hold itself high enough to stay latched. Give it the old burnout test haha!

I ended up taking a flat file and increasing the angle of the "foot" or "tab" a wee bit so that the spring loaded bar nestles at the base of the foot and can't work it's way off the foot with vibration. It worked. Hasn't popped open since.

That worked! Glove box now stays shut.

This was driving me nuts! I tried cleaning, oiling, shimming. Nothing would keep the bugger closed. I ended up going to a wrecker and taking a lock out of a 68 Monaco. It was exactly the same and this one is like brand new and now my glove box opens and closes just like it should. I don't have the key for it but I didn't have the key for the old one haha.
