I have a 85 chrysler that I am trying to do away with the electronic junk. I have heard for years that is one wire in that wad of wires under the breather that you can cut and it disconnects the whole shitaree. I have put a dist. in with a vaccum advance, and a different carb to do away with that electric carb, but it still seems like the unit is interfering with the signal somehow???? anyone here still remember these old cars? Dave.

Can't tell you on your 85. Good ol' electronics.

Had a 77 Cordoba, lean burn, and all that nonsense. Computer in the air cleaner, with a wad of wiring to it. Computer went out...twice...the hell with it.
Changed carb, distributor, air cleaner, and handfuls of wiring. Don't remember the details now, but it only took three wires from that harness, to let it run. Rest of 'em went in the trash!

I have a lean burn truck in the back yard that my neighbor wanted me to fix. It has dual pickup coils in the distributor one is a start pick up and the other is a run pickup and both have to work to make the truck run. This is what the information on the web says.

you buy the electronic dist' kit from mopar and the instructions tell you what wire and how to do it.

looks right to me. cant tell you how many of these i did back in the late 70,s and 80,s all junk after replacing they had a little more power

Not a good system at all. Pull it and put in a mopar ecu and distributor.
