Face ID or pin code to start your car

I was thinking would it possible to use a Face ID or pin code as an anti theft system to start your car?

Has somebody been down this road?
 
Whatever the technology, it will still be a relay in the back ground making the connections after the PIN or face matches the device.

Ford had the (pin code) entry system on the door locks years ago. It's just as easy to make it work for the ignition. My phone uses either of the recognition systems you mentioned. It's setup for a finger print as that is the fastest way I can get into it without it being completely unlocked. Hope this doesn't rain on your parade.
 
There are finger print locks available that aren't a whole lot of money.
I would have an emergency bypass system for anything I added.
