Overhaulin' Returns

We’ve all heard and know that most all of these car show restorations or customization builds take much longer than a few weeks to get fully sorted and after the airing the car needs many additional months of attention. That’s how it goes.
Let's not forget also that these shows are one giant advertising medium for the Big-Box restoration supply outlets involved. Not much actual 'work' is shown in the TV show edit.

I got pretty tired of Overhaulin a few years back. I am not saying that Chip and team are not talented, but just as with Graveyard cars, I got tired of all the non restoration stuff like pranking people with calls from the "police" etc for Overhaulin and all the "drama" and other BS on Graveyard Cars. Mark is talented, but not as a comedian. He would do better to stick with the restoration of Mopars.

Yep, smashing pumpkins in the parking lot and other unnecessary drama gets old quick.

Would it kill him to use some chrome or emblems? And everything doesn't need to be frenched.

.....please?

Not a fan of the two tone Foose style but I have met him and he is a very cool down to earth diehard car guy and gets to do what he loves. When he tears up with some people reactions of the debuts of the finished cars. It shows his passion. Chris Jacobs actually came up to me at the Autorama one year because I was wearing a Mopar jacket and said "alright finally, another Mopar guy". He was cool to talk with also. A.J is hot along with the other woman.

speaking of these type of shows, awhile back there was this Horrible show called pimp my ride..
anyone recall a 80-s 4 door dodge diplomat they did up?
i was offered the car here in ny years ago.
it was repainted yellow with ostrich? door panels i think...the interior was funky to say the least.
i just saw the car again, this year and its been stripped and gone to demo derby.
tried finding the episode, but im guessing this one was such a flop they never showed it on tv.
just a random dodge thought.

I remember that show and car............you are right, that was the worst car show..........at least for now. Looks like there may be a few new ones vying for the title.

Great talent but his style isn’t my preference most of the time but I did think the 64 Fury he did was really nice and kept mostly the stock look. The Challenger was a disaster and the RR convertible was bad too, hated the paint on both. The black Barracuda changed to Purple was a shame too, looked better in black especially since it was an original Black Car. Still a fun show to watch.

That’s how it goes. Chip of all people does not strike me as one who willfully does a shoddy build or tries to cut corners. I don’t see him jacking up many one owner collectable cars that should never be modified unless that was the owners desire. I personally like the show and I really like Chip and his crew. He’s an amazing designer that comes up with some pretty cool stuff and one of the few on screen designers that routinely rolls up his sleeves and is fully hands on immersed in his builds doing fab, body work and paint. He’s got a great positive attitude and I would hang out with him anytime. Although we all have our tastes, let’s not forget that Chip’s Overhaulin’ show was one of the first successful car build TV shows, paving the way for dozens of successive car shows that we all watch and love today. He’s paid his dues and continues to design, build and excel and is also a frequent SEMA presence. I’ll be tuning in. It’s good for our hobby. Do you think without these shows that the car parts restoration industry would be what it is today? No chance.

True and keep in mine, the goal of these TV shows is to make money. For some f-ed up reason, drama and "reality" sells. I guarantee you that each and every one of these "marks/owners" are fully aware the moment this stuff happens. They are just faking for ratings. For starters, they have to sign documents stating they will pay for all the taxes. The owner of that first Challenger he did was a forum member not long ago and showed all that over on the Challenger forum years ago when that happened.

I have some reality for them......................I really do not watch anymore because of the "reality"! I cannot wait for the fake "reality"/drama phase of TV to be over.

Blowing up pumpkins is much more fun...

Blowing up air bags under high tension power lines is fun too! :D Just wish we had done a vid of it. For a bit, it was an 'on ****' moment!!

Pimp my ride.....think I watched it once and thought....naw. Now I like to watch Overhaulin but yeah, didn't care for the drama parts much but like to watch Garage Squad, Iron Resurrection, Counting Cars and a few others but man, who has time to watch all that stuff unless you DVR all of them and then binge watch while nursing an overhang!?
