Our resident member 69bfan Richard had a very unfortunate situation at the Nationals today. Thunderstorms with high winds came in quickly this afternoon and caused serious damage. In the pics you see Richards parts area that was covered prior the storm with a massive tent that blew away. The other vendors setting up today suffered the same damage.

Thankfully, no one got hurt and all accounted for. Unfortunately, a fair amount of things got damaged.

So members think of our brothers out there and keep them in your prayers. The show obviously will still go on which starts tomorrow.........

If you go please stop by Richards tent. He drove a long way and incurred some costly damage....

our prays are there for all of you.

Looks like a number of cars were damaged as well... Apparently a huge (120' x 40') tent with a display of high end cars came including "The California Flash" came down...

Edit, missed a word... Gotta slow down..

Oh no. That might be the big tent close to the starting line that is put on by Hemi Denney and his group.

A quote from Denny last night. Sounds like it could have been worse.

"Down but not out. We did a head body count then started to pick up the pieces. I think The Nats is going to get us a small tent to keep Butch and company out of the sun and it looks like most everyone is staying. Got a large dent on the hood of the Flash along with a few small dings on the silver Duster. The Missiles appear to escaped unharmed which was good news. We will be back early tomorrow for more fun."

I feel bad for all who incurred damage. This is one of my major worries going to these shows - if a massive wind comes in it can create havoc.

69bfan/ Richard is a great guy and the type of vendor/ hobbyist we WANT in the hobby. He's honest, helpful and just a straight up decent guy. Please consider him for your parts needs, especially to help him recoup from damages.

I do hope that Richard can salvage the majority of his inventory and still make something of the show.
Sorry to hear about this bad news.

Bad news indeed. Best wishes for a full recovery and a great show despite the drama. This same thing, only magnified, happened to my unit during prep for going to Iraq at Ft. Hood in 2009. We had a micro tornado set down right in the middle of the camp one afternoon that tore up everything. Lifted huge tents and flung them away along with everything inside. What a mess and very scary to endure. Had to account for 482 soldiers and weapons. It tipped over Apache choppers, trucks and everything else. We had a huge pile of all sorts of gear for weeks while everyone inventoried their stuff and picked through the pile looking for missing items.

The good news is no one got seriously injured! Worldly possessions can be replaced, people cannot. 440'

very true.

I wonder if they even open the gates today for non-vendors and such to get in. I wouldn't if I were them.

Looks like they will have to start over setting up. All the big vendors and the high dollar cars are in place by Thursday.

I forgot about Carl. I talked to Sandy from Finer Details. She said it was bad but they were good. I have calls into a couple guys with show cars but no answer yet.
