New guy from Maryland

B
Mine weighs 3340-3500 depending on ballast. When it is backed down to 9.25 60ft ranges 1.29-1.32 depending on track prep.
At full power (9.0x) 1.25-1.28. Thats a ton of power to weight to gain .04 in 60ft. Same chassis, gear, tire. Look where the starting line is in this picture.

Beautiful car and launch. I am to old for that air. I don't want to get air sick.lol

everyone pretty much covered it

nice car by the way

edited added; pretty damn good for only 451cid too

lower gears set in the trans is a great idea
so is lower final gear ratio & looser converter
(if you can taller tire, more roll out bigger footprint, if you go to a steeper gear/looser converter)
lighter rims/wheels & tires can help too
(draglites are pretty light for mass produce wheels)
lighter driveshaft etc. etc. etc.

weight reduction is great for many reasons
less weight more power to weight ratio
especially rotating mass
your car seems to be pretty light already

changing out some hardware for alum. or titanium hardware
albeit a PITA, sometimes a bit pricey too

Lexan windows ?
remove the window mech.s' etc.
carpeting ?

any areas you can remove or drill metal to reduce more weight
you can always add ballast to wear you need it afterwards

race at lower elevations, better air, hopefully better track too :poke:

more then one way to skin a cat

every little bit helps

try messing around with the numbers with a few calculators
below, before you spend a bunch of $$$
try

you're pretty much at where you should be now,
car works well it seems

good luck
Thinking the converter is not what I am use to. It will flash to about 4800 best l can read. I have a old turbo action 5000 as a spare. When I have some money I will take to Ati. and have built for this car.

Test and tune Fri night. I changed shift points after 1 st pass, 2 pass was a screwed up mess, 3 pass went 09

When I was on the hunt for more I had a good converter built, a low gear set put into the 727 and shed about 200 lbs. That’s when my launches turned into an exhibition ride and it took almost a full season to figure things out. All good now tho.

Yep nothing but fun. My 64 pulls the wheels about 3 inches now
Not really wanting it to higher. I keep forgetting I bought this turn key. Don't really know the internals. Don't know whose converter or stall. Not sure how to post videos says file is to large.

Your car is doing good. Plenty fast already. The only way that I know of to post a video is to make your video a you tube vid and then copy / paste it here.
Here's one of mine when I was looking for more. Those were frustrating times..

I can see all kinds of frustration there. I bought this car believing it would run low 9.90 to high 9.80 but I think I am shutting down in the 10.0s put the cage in it and cert 8.50 so the car is good but the driver isn't. I am at my goal already in that once the heat and humidity moves out everyone picks up 1to 2 tenths. The tracks elevation 550 ft. Sometimes in the fall we will be below sea level.

practice and more practice good luck

I would like to as I live less then 10 miles from the track. But retirement only goes so far.
Welcome and great car! I'll be at Cecil this Saturday, racing with the United Nostalgia Stock and Super Stock group. Stop by and say hello... Better yet, bring the '64 out and race with us.

No Hemi. Thinking about a Hemi for my wintertime Dart project though.. The 64 has a 505. All steel except the bumpers and scoop.

That 505 is making a lot power and looking good doing it. Shows that the chassis is dialed in . Very well done.

Thanks Tintoy!

Last year I had a hell of a time getting it to launch when I was on leaf springs. With the help of lots of members here on FBBO I finally got it half decent with the calvert set up by end of season. Last fall once racing was over I installed ladder bars underneath and hoped for the best.

This year right off the trailer the car went 9.97. It just goes up, straight, no spin and 1.34's is an average 60'. Car is legal to go 10.0 only, so I've reinstalled the steel hood and that keeps me just on the legal side of 10.0 now. The car is definitely doing it's job now. Just hoping seat time will fix the driver cause so far, he still needs tweaking.
