First time driving my 70 RR in the dark last night to discover no dash lights. No power at the fuse and when I chase the orange wire to the power source (ignition switch) there is no mating orange wire that run from the connection up the steering column???
Is that part of the ignition switch??
I cant find a schematic that shows the wiring going up the column - anyone have one??
Thanks

I have looked at replacement ignition switches and none of the connectors show an orange wire so I assume its fed from somewhere else???

Try moving the dimmer control up and down, see if they flicker on, if so the headlight switch needs to be replaced.

Are you saying the orange wire that hooks to the ignition switch connector is not supposed to have a mating wire coming from the steering column?

If there is an orange wire in the ignition switch Molex connector, it would be for a column shift auto, gear selector illumination lamp. The dash lights are powered from the headlamp switch to the dimmer rheostat, to a separate fuse box illumination fuse, then on to the dash lights.

Having same problem - think it is the dimmer switch. Getting power from light switch to dimmer but no power at fuse. When I cross power to fuse dash light come on. Also believe it is the same problem for my dome light.

The dimmer switch does have a dome lamp switch built-in but is electrically separate from the dash light rheostat. The switch grounds the yellow wires to complete the dome lamp circuit, to turn it on. If the dome lamp is not working at all, I’d look elsewhere.

Thanks, your right - the third terminal is nothing but a ground for dome light - has a contact point that engages when turning to wheel all the way. My rheostat was green with corrosion. Sprayed with carb cleaner and "dremmeled" the contact points. I think it's going to work, or at least the ohms meter is saying it is. Should probably get it rebuilt, but I'm ready to drive this car...
