Good morning all. After 6 long years of resto(mostly body work)the '70 Satellite was finally shot. The sealer, paint and clear was Axalta, and the etch and high build primers were both Transtar. The high build sanded beautifully, and went on very flat with 15% reducer. The rear cross sill, cross sill extensions, trunk, trunk drops, quarters, outer tubs, front floor halves, and inner and outer rockers were all cut out and replaced. Most welding was done using plug welding the old drilled out spot welds, with my Lincoln Mig 140, using. 023" wire and Stargold gas. Nice hot flat welds. The trim along the sides of the car were deleted and the holes plug welded. Other than the paint, installing the front windshield, the exhaust, and the wheel alignment, the whole project was done in my unheated garage during summers when the temperature was good for bodywork. Overall a couple of amateurs learning as we go did ok. Can't wait until it's back together and ready to enjoy.

Who says you can't do nice stuff at home. Very nice.

Dang! I don't think the activator worked. It still looks wet!
Beautiful car Man. Yes, now to remember where all the parts go!
Thank God our Mopars don't have all that many parts. Glad you
used top quality material. It shows.

Wow, congratulations on your hard work and great results!

Thanks all. Much appreciated. My friend and I that did the work were sitting in my garage last night just kind of patting ourselves on the back. Started putting on some pieces last night, but it's going to take a while with work being busy right now. Hopefully in another 7-10 days I'll be able to post some pics of the finish product. Regarding an engine, that has been a tough one. It's a 318/904/8 1/4 car, and that's what's still in it. I bought a 383 but it will have to wait a few years. Honestly, I might rebuild the 318 to run reliably at 250hp or so, tighten up the 904, and simply change the carrier and gears from 2.71 to 3.55. The gears alone should change the dynamics of the car. The car will be cut and polished in September sometime, and then stored before the snow comes. Then a new season starts. I call this season, "the pay off my credit card" season.
