Got some new shoes for the Charger 305's

That's what I was asking, what was the issue with the 555's, pour traction on wet roads or hydroplaning? They seam to have high review's.
Going to a Starion/Conquest meet in Atlanta. Driving appx 70 mph on a clean surface blacktop interstate highway. It starts to rain, light to medium-light. I slow to 60 mph. Into it about 10 minutes and with NO warning, the *** end of my 89 Conquest TSi decides it doesn't know which end of the car is which. *** end kicks out right, left, right and fortunately I go into the grass between the lanes of the interstate.
If it would have kicked out left, I would have been in the TREES.
NITTO 555s will NEVER see street use on any of my cars again.
I had to pull the seat cover out of my *** with needle nose pliers!

Finally!! I don't know if it's the site or my phone but I have a horrible time loading pictures anymore. Like I said big difference. Is there a street and drag radial version of the 555's?

I see now, there are 2 different 555's. Me personally I drive way to many miles on all types of surfaces (OHIO) to ever run a drag radial. I always look for a summer performance tire so they are a stickier compound but still made for normal street conditions including rain.

I had the 555R drag radials on my Conquest TSi. It was chirping 3rd gear in the 1/4 mile, and there were other pedal down, boost up occasions when I needed better traction, so I got a pair of 555R Nittos. Great at the track, I destroyed a mid 60s Mustang on the street largely because I hooked up and he didn't.
But one rain experience was one too many.
The Toyo Proxes TQ drag radials have been great on the street, I have to install my line lock to see what more they can do at the track, along with improving my rear suspension, which for me means starting with a clean slate and going triangulated rear suspension 4 link.
I'll get 3 years out of the Toyos, and that's good enough for me. Maybe 2,000 miles a year? Tread life doesn't matter on the Roadrunner, tires that do what I need them to do, when I need them to do it, THAT is what matters to me.

The NITTO 555s were the widow makers, not the Toyo Proxes TQ drag radials, the Toyos are great (so far) on the rare occasions I get caught in the rain.
On my 89 Conquest TSi, the Nitto 555s could have killed me!
Were those Nitto 555 or the 555R’s? I have 15” diameter 555R’s and they are pretty good on the street. Do they make the Toyo proxy in 15”?

Nice 71'.
Hope your planning more of the same as your Charger!.. Long as you keep her sassy-grass anyway..
It's my daughter's 72 Satty, she's just turning 13 so I have time but the build is all up to her to an extent. She's wavered back and forth between a dark gold or green, I'm pushing her towards green but it will be different from sublime like the Viper green. She appreciates classics so we'll see how far she sways from factory but I'm hoping to lower it, add larger rims, shave the markers and antenna, rework the front valence, make the scoops functional and larger, modify the trunk lid to have a little flare like the Chargers.... oh wait it's her car lol. Should begin tear down this year, it will be listed on here as "Project brown eyed girl" ... that's our song.

How about a tire they don't make anymore.... 315/45-17 The tires & wheels for My Coronet on my friends 69 Coronet R/T that he bought off the original owner... Yes it sits a little high, all we did was bolt them on to test.... On my car I'll get it to sit "right"..

your Charger is so sweet!!!!
Too bad it doesn't pack the punch that yours does lol. I have plans to upgrade to a 500+ cubic inch motor with Trickflows in the not so far future but still nothing compared to yours.

I run the nitto NT555G2. 245/45-17 front, 275/40-18 rear. Drove it from Erie, Pa to myrtle beach and back, heavy rain included with no problems.
