$500- 68 charger

I'm having trouble finding the best throttle cable for my setup, not really sure what length I should get. Any suggestions? I have a holley 750 on a stock 440 intake with a 1" spacer.

I think if you take the time to do a search on here, I think I remember someone listing the different cable part #s and their length.
Looking good Kid.

I also went with the Lokar kick down and throttle cable, nice easy setup but a little costly. The cables get cut to length so there's really no fuss as to what length just make sure they're not to short.

FINALLY! Motor cranked right up and runs great.. Which is a big relief for me since I really didn't know anything about this 440. I bought it from a bud that didn't know anything about it either. I did do compression and leak down checks on it which were good but still don't know anything about it other than it appears to be stock., But it wraps up pretty quick like it may have something helping it. I guess the 750 carb, headers, carb spacer and e-ignition all add to it. The audio is bad and you can't really hear the throaty sound of the pipes, I'll get a vid outdoors that may sound better.

That's a great feeling knowing she has life! Sounds great.

Thanks guys.. The motor doing so well was a big morale booster and could have been a big setback if it smoked, or leaked from a cracked block or head, etc....... I finished up the throttle and kickdown linkage. And I noticed the stock choke thermostat hole cover in the intake had a noisy little exhaust leak so I made a blankoff plate to fix it since I'm chokeless..

I had to fill the brake system and had trouble getting the mc primed. I didn't want to take the mc back off so I had to do a lot of pedal pumping to finally get it flowing. Then had several leaks around the distribution block. Used my phone to see where the leaks were. I also filled the rear-end with gear oil. So the motor is done and all fluids in. May have a test drive soon., then put front end on.

I'd at least put the front fenders on, you don't want a rock flying up and messing up the paint or window or...

Only speaking from experience. I took an old Porsche for a ride once with no glass or fenders, sitting on a car ramp... got two rocks to the face...

It'll be a very short test drive, like back and forth on the cove road in front of my house, about 1000' of pretty clean pavement. But thanks to your story I'll walk the route and look for any rocks..

I was about to back it out of the garage but I saw that one side of the front end was a little low, so I decided to adjust it up a tad. I've heard of torsion bar adjuster failures and now I can say I have experienced one. It failed/stripped out/popped while I was tightening it slightly. Fortunately and wisely I had it jacked back up with the wheels off the ground. NEVER adjust them without jacking the front up. If your adjuster bolts and keys are 50 years old get new ones. Mine failed without much pressure on it and could have easily failed while driving and caused damage or possibly a wreck. So I am glad it happened when it did.. New ones on the way from summit, $90..

I made sure to pull mine apart and grease them up before assembly.

Mine were pretty crusty before I cleaned/wire brushed, painted and put anti-seize on them. When I screwed them back together I thought they felt a little loose, probably from removing the corrosion off the threads. That was about 5 years ago,. Paint shop dust got in a lot of places under my car that I haven't cleaned or seen yet like on them. Not that that was a factor since the 50 year rust is what killed them.

I had a torsion bar adjuster pull the threads once. Spooky and lucky I didn't get hurt. I learned my lesson and ALWAYS have the weight off the front end when turning them now.

red stripes do look great, came a long way from a $500 charger!
