At 2:30m this morning I was headed up I-25. It's a 6 lane Interstate going thorough Colorado Springs. Hardly any traffic at this time. I see oncoming lights that look a little too bright. I hit the brakes and pulled over. Sure enough, the driver was going southbound in the northbound lanes. Called 911. Never heard about it on the news so maybe the driver didn't kill anyone.

Darned scary.

Have a similar story myself from around 1988. The Mrs and I are headed eastbound on I-30 toward Fort Worth late one night. Here comes a car towards us! We are in the right-hand lane and they are in the left. I slow down rapidly and move towards the shoulder. As they go by I see the driver glance over for a moment and continue on their merry way at highway speed. Their car was a 1950s black and pink 1950s Ford Crown Vic. That was weird.

Wow. Scary. When driving home on occasion at 0400, I often see knuckleheads driving down the number 1 lane (of 3) on 87 when freeway is deserted. If some drunk IS going the wrong way, may likely be in that lane. I run 2 or 3.

Phoenix has been having a lot of wrong way DUI freeway deaths. At night never drive in the left lane....that’s where the drunk wrong way drivers are.

Yeah,
But their left lane (the wrong way) is the right lane
(The right way).....
Makes it even scarier for us that are perfectly content to drive in the right lane -- and let all the normal idiots fly by us.....

Had a lady do that last year in my area. Being she acted like she owned the road, I give her all the space she wanted. No cops in sight.

How can we be sure that it wasn't you that was going the wrong way? :D

File under; nothing good happens at 2:30 am.

Wow, I can't understand that... a state where weed is legal has wrong-way drivers?!? :fool:

A couple of years ago I was south bound on 39 coming out of Wisconsin into Illinois. I noticed a car going south in the north bound lanes. It was a little old lady all bundled up in a fur coat. I was honking my air horn doing everything I could think of to get hers and everyone else's attention. But she just kept going like she was late for a hair appointment. She hit a semi head on and was killed instantly.

:screwy: crazy :fool: drivers :poke:

I saw it one time on I-5 way back in the 80's
it was foggy as hell too

never did read about any wrecks

I was getting off the highway and the ramp had a wide curve blocked by high ground, so you could not see that far in front of you. As I was on the off ramp, a car suddenly appears coming straight for me going the wrong way. In a moment before impact I served off the road. Hopefully the other idiot realized he entered a off ramp. I was driving my 65 ford falcon at the time

You got lucky

About 15 years ago, I was towing my sister-in-laws 69 Hemi Super Bee with my brother following in his 64 Imperial. We were on a North Carolina state road, two lanes in each direction with a huge median that you couldn't see the other direction. I noticed a set of headlights way off that seemed to be on my side. For a while I assumed the road must curve ahead and not to worry. As it got closer I realized it was a wrong way car. Mind you my brother behind has no idea. As I slow down, my brother decides to move into the left lane. You want to talk about an OMG moment! I ended up in the dirt still slowing so my brother could see ahead and avoid getting hit. What went the other way was a little old lady looking through the steering wheel with huge poofy silver hair.

That crash that killed two on the West Shore Expressway that Steve from Staten Island brought up was caused by two off duty drunk cops!!!!

How about that?????

In the mid 70's I 'heard' a crash from the freeway that was 2 miles away! It was around 2am and I just got home from a date and was letting my bike cool down a bit before pushing it into the garage so got back on it and headed in the general direction the noise came from and found the remains of a head on crash. No one got killed but there were injuries. Pickup and a large Ford sedan made driver's side fender to fender contact which made the pickup go airborne and trapped the driver inside. The driver of the pickup was the drunk. The sedan spun out and went over a guard rail backwards that was protecting a sign post. My next door neighbor who was a Houston cop said the drunks always pick the #1 lane thinking they are in the far right lane and out of the way.
