Need info on sure grip clutch type carrier . The numbers on it is 22685X 12 15 64B . Trying to find out what year it is . Google it , everything besides what i was looking for . Don't have case. Thanks

It was nade December 15th 1964 for a 1965 model year car/truck. It may or may not have the preloaded /beveled clutches in it. So when u doin 1 axle in the air the other may spin backwards like an open differential. Not to worry, that’s how they were designed to work from the factory. Kim

That is correct, the early ones may need to have more wheel rpm to activate the clutches. The later models have the cross with ramps, that activate even when turning by hand.

They are the same except they don’t have the beveled/concave clutches. They climb the ramps the same way as the newer clutch type with the preload Kim

Never seen one without the ramps on the cross shafts.....

What i meant was with the preload on the clutches, the cross ramps faster acting than the old units. Moves even when turning by hand vs older units that need MORE wheel rpm to activate

Not sure it's so much as wheel rpm but more of a difference of rpm between both wheels.....unless that's what you mean.
