Differences in 69 SuperBee taillamps

Was going through @dadsbee thread and noticed his lamp assemblies had 1 more lamp socket provision than mine.
A rear wire harness from 1994 came with my car and is correct for what I have.
So what determined the difference? Post car or hardtop? Date of build?

Could be R/T vs Super Bee tail light assembly.

R/T and 500 had 3

440 and SB had 2

There is an early and late housing and lens for the 440/Bee.

And since we are on the subject. Does anybody know of a supplier for just the plastic chrome trim. Everything else is in great condition except for pitting chrome.

It was a January 1, 1969 switch over for the housing and lens. Parts manual pages below.

The bezel is pot metal. No one reproduces this piece, they have to be re-chromed. The Chrome Shop out of Menasha does mine. Brace yourself, not cheap. Talk to Steve there.

How does a guy get it off without ruining the mounting studs? Looks almost like they are melted with an iron.

Thanks Darrin. That would make sense. The date code on the fender tag in Jan. 4 and other parts on the car have had late 1968 dates.

The lens is the concern. The tabs will stay intact, the plastic breaks. Here is a thread on the removal. I have found a couple of different ways to get them off without damaging the lens.
