Bought this car in November of 2017. It’s a 383 auto column shift EL5 Bahama Yellow car. I Decided I might as well put an engine in and have some fun with it before I restore it, so I pulled it out of the garage this summer to work on it. This is when I first bought it and loaded it up

Few more pictures after I put it in the garage along with the rallye wheels I bought shortly after buying the car (bought all 4)

Bought a recently rebuilt 383/727 last year out of a 70 dodge sweptline truck. The trans will not work for my car but I can use it for my 70 D100 Dude when I get to it. The guy I got it from recently bought the truck and was swapping in a Cummins instead. I used a 933 oil pan and pickup tube and transmission off a mid 70’s C body 440 and gave the engine a rattle can shot of hemi orange doesn’t have to look pretty in this thing.i also had to knock the weights off the torque converter since the 383 has forged crank. I didn’t want to used the good new converter since I’m uncertain the condition of this trans as it was pulled out of a car that sat for years.

The front rear leaf spring mounts were butchered for whatever reason so I replaced the passenger side with one from my parts car. I’m not a professional but it should do the job. The drivers side is really ugly so I might leave it for now then I will replace the whole rail. But I kind of want to do that when I replace the trunk pan, extensions and lower wheel wells, quarters and rear window sill

Headers went in no problem at all. I left the motor mounts unbolted so I could lift the engine up with the engine hoist. Then I realized the torque shaft for the column shift was dead center of the header. Made this in about an hour out of the torque shaft and a wrecked U bolt I had laying around. It’s not the prettiest but should do the job

Not sure how I missed this before. Had to drop the K member to do some repairs. The passenger Torsion bar was a pain in the *** to get out

More pictures of passenger side k member mount repair. At least it’s only the one side...

Decided I might as well rebuild the front end while I’m at it. Accidentally ordered red bump stop instead of black. Need to find upper ball joint socket so I can change upper ball joints and then control arm bushings

I have a registry for 71-72 cars, and interestingly I have the twin to your car in my database that's sequentially one VIN number away!
This car was on craigslist in Boston MA in 2015

Doing some great work. So glad you're keeping it alive.

Wow that is cool. Do you have any more pictures/history of the twin car? This one spent most it’s life in northern BC/Alberta in Canada. I Bought it by Devon, AB just south of Edmonton. Talked to a previous owner who brought it to Alberta from Dawson Creek, BC

I didn't save any other photos of the car, and the craigslist ad is the only time I'd seen it. I had noted that at that time in 2015 it needed a full restoration, it was in pieces and most of the metal work had been done. If you want to share a full owner history on your car for my database, feel free to PM me

Ok at least it was getting fixed. The guy I talked to said he would try and find the contact info to the guy he bought it from if he does that I’ll see how far I can track the owner history and let you know when I do.

Been awhile, here’s a few things I’ve done since I last posted.

-Finished the front suspension rebuild. -Replaced the power brake booster, brake lines,
-Dropped and cleaned fuel tank and lines.
-Put in new aluminum Radiator.
-Ran transmission lines
- 15X7 rear wheels
Sure I’m missing some stuff
