Hey I have a 1972 charger with 318, 727, and Carter AFB 9605S.

I thought at first my carburetor was out of adjustment, but turns out the kickdown linkage is sticking when engaging it with the throttle.

Since the linkage is pretty rough and seems to be missing a return spring I was considering swapping it out for a lokar kickdown cable and throttle cable. Has any done this and how hard is it?

It's easy, but you need the Lokar SRK-4000 bracket that attaches to the carb mounting which they don't necessarily tell you until you find it in the installation instructions.

Search 'Lokar' in the search field. Lots of historical discussions on it that will give you good info.

I know it's more money, but the bouchillon solution is plug and play.

Are you referring to kit # 3350 ? I've been considering that, and i'm curious if anyone has an opinion about it.

Part of the OP's problem is he's missing the correct Mopar throttle lever extension (Edelbrock 1481), with that you can get the linkage to work with minimal effort/expense. The factory linkage is far superior to the Lokar.

Don't even bother with the Lokar, do bouchilon right off the bat and save yourself from buying both and throwing away the Lokar.

Just my $.02, DAMHIK...

I have used a Lokar Kickdown AND Throttle cable package on my A100. Easy enough to use, and install. Best advice i can give you is to thoroughly read the instructions BEFORE cutting anything.

I'm a tad late to the party, but bouchilon can eat a fat one. I will never buy anything from them again. I installed their throttle and kickdown cable with their big bracket. Less than a year later the throttle cable end had corroded and fell off in my hands when putting it back on the carb after my engine build. I emailed, sent pictures and called the company and they told me to bad, buy another one. Outstanding customer service ! I crimped my own end on. The kickdown kit is nice, easy adjustments. I do not like the fact that they are both on the same slotted piece on the bracket, loosen the throttle cable and their goes your kickdown settings ! I've never been happy with the feel of the throttle cable, very hard and doesn't always allow the throttle blades to close fully at idle. Sometimes have to tap the gas pedal when sitting at stop lights. I am switching over to lokar, had it on my previous coronet and had zero issues ... Good luck
