So what is needed for Gen 3 Hemi

So been looking around and having a hard time finding the basics for a Gen 3 swap into an older B body. Looking and doing stupid things with our lemons coronet. Granted just rebuilding a 318 and maybe going fuel injection would also be an option.

Anyways what I have seen these are the basics.

- Oil pan has to be swapped.
- Oil filter has to be swapped to a durango 45 degree unit or a remote oil filter.
- Motor mounts. Plan would be to use the stock small block subframe.
- Wiring and ecu for sure. Not sure which way we would go with this but it is needed.
- Fuel pump upgrade. Some intake options but could maybe do an external fuel pump. Lemons budget after all.
- Manifolds or Headers. Can the stock manifolds be used. Car is a power steering car and we plan to keep that.
- Starter. Has anybody made a a833 work with a gen 3 hemi. We are using an Ar-5 from a 06 Colorado behind our 318. I know our transmission will bolt up. But curious about a flywheel as our dakota flywheel wont bolt to the crank of the gen 3. Things to think of. Yes not a great idea but $150-300 transmissions are still an idea. Would want to keep a manual transmission.

Is there anything else that is required for the swap.

There is no such thing as a budget hemi swap on your first time installing one. If cost is even remotely an issue just rebuild what you have and enjoy it. Maybe upgrade to a 360.

I disagree, unless you aren't willing to do some research and work. These engines bolt in fairly easy and are not that hard to find inexpensive these days. The most expensive part is the wiring harness, and if you want to do it yourself, you can.
 
I may need help in that part since am gonna install a new hemi in my coronet.
The hardest part if you have a wiring harness to start with, is finding a wiring diagram. I haven't looked for a while, but I failed to find one 8 years ago when I started my project. There are really only about 4-5 wires needed to run the engine, the rest run to sensors on the engine or other chassis components and can be stripped out. Honestly, if you pulled all the wrapping off the harness you could figure out which inputs actually go to the PCM and narrow down from there.
