Hey, I've been doing research but cant find the correct answer …

plan on running 255/60/15 tire on a 15x8" wheel on the front of my 68 sport satellite

which backspacing would be best? 4" or 4.5" ?

I think I will be leaning towards the 4.5" but wondering if anyone had input. thanks!

I will be running a 325 on the rear

We have been down this road. You may have contact with the upper control arm right at the ball joint with the 4.5'' backspace with a 8'' wheel. On 2 of my cars it took the wheel weights right off the rim the first few feet that the car moved. The first was a A body that I blamed but it did it to my 64 Belvedere too. 4.25'' just cleared so 4'' should be good.

Not sure, but be sure that is not too wide of a tire on the front. It might steer like a lumber wagon?

If I had to guess I’d say 4”, but then you may run the risk of it rubbing on the outer portion.

reason being I already have the tires... I think ill just go with a 7 inch wheel that way it will accept a smaller tire if necessary . I see the only option is a 4 inch backspacing from wheel vintiques.

would a 7 vs 8" make much difference?

Would a 7 make a difference in wheel clearance? Yeah it will. Isn't the 255-60 around 8" wide? I like to have my street wheels as close to the tire width as possible and if possible. Had a set of 255-65's which are 8 1/2" mounted on 8" wheels but they were on a Dakota. The wheels are 5" back spacing and the weights would hit the upper control arm but taking off about 1/16" off with a grinder cured that. That combo really improved the handling of that little SWB reg cab a lot! I'd do my best to make the 8's work if it were mine.
