The Citrus Heights Police department actually approved a CRUISE NIGHT set for this Saturday, August 31st.
In the 80s, The Sunrise Blve cruise was THE place to hang out. I met all sorts of chicks cruising my lowered 76 Camaro...I street raced some, I hung out at the Burger King, I met up with buddies...Good times.
The meet up is supposed to be at the Home Depot on Sunrise ave in Roseville and the cruise is supposed to run from there to the Lowes store at Sunrise and Greenback lane. Meet up at the Home Depot around 7;00.
Think about this....The POLICE approved of this.
Cool, huh?

He's gonna be waiting for all of you........

We used to have cruise nights. The main drag was lined with spectators in lawn chairs from one end to the other. A tourist caught up in the near bumper to bumper traffic asked me what was going on. I replied: "It's Friday night, doesn't everybody do this?"
There was one Mopar that could only idle a higher rpm and with uncorked headers, it sounded like two drummers having a drum-off at once. When he revved it up into the limiter, it was a raggity, shirt ripping noise. That guy didn't dare dump the clutch. In two seconds, he would have been doing twice the posted speed limit. The morning after these things, there were rubber marks covering that street. Then the cops took over. No more loud cars, no more power braking, then after a few years of carping cops, just... no more.

After a couple years of no Cruiser Night, they now allow a car show downtown, but no parades.

When we are born, the Doctors should slap our bottoms with a stamp that says: Welcome to life, some risk is assumed.

It's a sting operation... watch out!
I'm sure the CARB cops will be there with the exhaust sniffers confiscating any vehicle that doesn't meet whatever standard they deem necessary for confiscation!

You know, if they just looked at what comes out the tailpipe I wouldn't have a huge problem with CARB... But the car can be super clean, less than 10% of the allowable emissions but has parts that aren't "CARB" approved (Didn't pay CARB their extortion fee) and they will fail it every time.... Clearly it's not about emissions...

It's all about the "Green".... Green Money......

Not sure what i could have done wrong, but it looks like my post was deleted here.

My 94 Caravan runs cleaner and gets better mileage with a cold air intake, but won't pass their Smog. So I had to play the "Let's swap air cleaners so I can pass smog" routine every other year. Go figure? I learned that the hard way but the numbers were staggering how much cleaner the aftermarket intake is. I have to worry no more!

I see you moved to "the real world" not sure where you moved to but Congratulations!!

I'd love to move but momma won't leave her grandkids... And since the house is paid for & it's locked in under prop 13 I guess I'm staying...

Good time tonight. Here are a few pictures from the Home Depot lot:

First up, a local guy, Robert and his '69 Charger SE. Originally a T-7 Bronze, tan vinyl top, tan interior but after 20 years in a field, he bought it and changed it to a B-5 blue in and out. This was a Dealer ordered Demo. Former 383, 440 now. Power windows and A/C !

Remember the mini-truck craze of the 80s, ?
There were a few there....Datsuns, a few Toyotas and the green Chevy (Isuzu built) LUV.

There were MORE B body cars there than A bodies...I counted a '69 Super Bee, 2 Road Runners and a '69 Charger. I saw ONE A-Body Barracuda.
It was good to see some cars there that I haven't seen in years....Mini trucks, a few 4 cylinder Imports too. In the 80s, Imports were just gaining in popularity in Sacramento. There was a guy in town that was really sharp with Toyotas. He was the first in town to put Japanese export engines into cars that were never built with them. He was there tonight with his 9 second Celica.
Funny bit: That guy married my ex wife... the one that I've repeatedly made fat jokes about. The Celica has been converted to RIGHT hand drive. While looking at the car tonight, I told Mary that he converted the car so that his wife can get the food quicker when they went to the Fast food drive through places...

Wish I had known about this sooner. I could have done that .
