Hey just installed the kickdown linkage from bouchillon, because the Kickdown linkage I had was just thrown together from the previous owner. Wanted to see if someone could take a look at what I have installed and let me know if it's correct?

It does seem like I have too long of a throttle cable as I have to put a bend in the throttle cable as it comes out of the bulk head.

I currently have Kickdown cable setup so it pulls the linkage about 1:1 with the throttle.

Also the when I press the throttle it just seems heavy, is this typical? This is my first classic car.

Pictures are of the original linkage and of the new setup.

Did you check to see that it's possible to get FULL throttle and still have a little bit of spare cable? That looks a bit tight to me. Also check for correct spring tension if the pedal is hard to push......including spring return counter springs if necessary.

The cable is long...It runs behind the engine to the RH side of the trans and hangs a U turn to point forward.

When you say spare cable are you talking about the throttle/accelerator cable or the Kickdown linkage cable?

I believe the return spring connected to the carburetor linkage is incorrect as it is all messed up. So planning to replace it. What would the other springs be called in the FSM? I could look them up in there.

Yes the Kickdown linkage cable is long and I have it currently routed over the transmission to the passenger side and the then up between the firewall and engine.

I'm more talking about the throttle/accelerator cable being too long?

I have to say, the original set-up looked good to me. IIWM, I would have left it alone, and carefully restored the original parts by cleaning them up and lube where needed, maybe paint. The return spring needs replacement, but it looks (to me) like it all goes where it should. Does the Lokar set-up allow the kickdown to slide like factory?? Its an important feature. HTH, Lefty71

I have Bouchillon on mine. So far so good but haven't driven it much tho

The original setup was cobbled together from the previous owner and it was extremely rough and when I pressed the pedal to the point it would engage the Kickdown linkage it would keep the throttle from returning so pretty unsafe.

That was after cleaning it up and greasing lol!

Not sure about the Lokar, but the Bouchillon slides fine.

Sorry, I mistakenly was talking about the throttle cable. But either way, make sure cable can move freely to the full extent of it's requirement before trimming to length. There should be sufficient cable to run the Kick-down cable around and approach from the passenger side at the rear of the transmission casing. Cable bracket bolts to rear of main case - where it meets the tail shaft housing.

Yeah I'll double check.

Where the throttle cable comes out of the firewall I had to curve it a little for it to fit into the bracket. So would I need an entirely new throttle cable?

Mine went straight out of the firewall to the carb. No bending, twists, just like the factory. Maybe they sent the wrong one? Is everything stock? Might have to call them to verify. But, just FYI- Randy can be a real peach to talk to at times

Throttle cable might not be stock. Not sure if previous owner swapped it out or not.

They didn't send me a throttle cable. Just a Kickdown kit, brackets etc.

My bad. I mis read your post. I think I have a picture of the kick down as well and will have to look

Always best to talk to the manufacturer to get proper setup and adjustment procedures. Normally comes with the parts.

I agree MoparLeo. But as I staed, Randy can be a peach if you call him.
