Hello Team,

We are on the final stages of our 66 Coronet, Convert, 4spd, 361, 2 barrel restoration. It is a numbers matching one owner car that my father in law bought as a demo in very early 67. The carb is a BBD 4125S as was on the tag on top of the Carb. I "think" we can rebuild it, but was thinking about replacing it with a New one and keeping the old one, just in case. Any idea where a feller can get a new 4125S Carb or its replacement? Want the car to run well as we take it to shows and such. Help appreciated.

There is not much to BBDs. I would rebuild it.
Make sure the throttle shaft doesn't have excessive play, and the float and choke pull off don't leak.
Rebuild it according to the service manual. Cheap and easy.

SassyPants,
For my money and general piece of mind, I'd buy the new unit. See if you can negotiate a lower price that includes shipping to your home, One catch....the accelerator pump cup may be dried out or has taken a set ftom non use. The 1 1/2" Carter BBD (Ball & Ball Downdraft) is a simple carb but the bowl casket looks dried out. IF you purchase it, I would take the top off and inspect the internals and upon re-assembly, spray all gaskets with silicon lube and accelerator pump cup, making sure the step up piston and rods are not sticking. The alternate would be to rebuild yours with a high quality kit....I like Standard Motor Products Zipkit.....not the cheapest but most complete and thoro instructions. Just my opinion of course.

Rebuild it, watch some vids on YouTube, I've rebuilt AFB's , and they seem complicated, but are not, really

Biggest thing: get rid of the FRAM filter, use wix/Napa gold. If you cut it open, you'll know why

Thank you guys a Ton. I do appreciate it. The Fram is for the Start up/run it procedure only. I am kind of a Wix fan my self.
