I bought a set of like new 1 5/8" ceramic coated Patriot long tubes at a swap meet on the cheap. Just wondering if anyone else is using these on a 71/72 B body and what to expect on the install and any clearance issues. I will add mini starter (2000 Dakota, etc) and can mate to my current 2.5 duals with H pipe. Car has power steering with stock box and it is slightly lower than stock ride height and stock heads. Thanks.

Not sure about your fitment with a 360. but I can tell you that with the 72 charger I have and the 440 with standard port locations the patriot headers I bought are not even close. they will not work at all. worst money I have ever spent. no help from the company either. the collector comes together right in the plane of the torsion bar. they hit the steering box. I am ok with small dings like the steering box or the starter. but there is nothing you can do about the things being right where the torsion bars go. Biggest POS headers ever.

Does the drivers side have one of the pipes (the front one) go down under the main steering link?
Or are the header pipes block huggers?
I bought Doug's headers for my 360 that's going into my 1971 Runner - they are block huggers.

I believe they go under the drivers side steering link but will have to check for sure. Out of town for the week. Not block huggers.

Come to find out I believe these are actually Flowtech ceramic coated SBM headers.
Unfortunately I cannot edit post title.
I did the install yesterday and it was not so bad. I had to remove my 97 Dakota "mini" starter and my angled oil filter adapted. Also had to remove the steering link due to it passing through the driver's side header tubes. Fabrication included adapting the header collectors to my existing 2.5" exhaust. I was running 340 hi-po manifolds. I also had to extend the crossover tube on the H pipe.
Having a lift helped and I used a chop saw with a metal blade and a MIG welder.
I used Remflex gaskets at the heads and SCE copper at the collectors. No leaks!
Ground clearance is good (my car sits low) and the sound is a huge improvement.
Seat of pants feels like more torque. Guessing 15-20 lb/ft. Very happy with it.

Caution. Amateur welder at work.

I still have a bit more weld clean-up, band clamps and adjustment on the driver's side pipe. Going to use some high temp paint for rust protection as well.

One other thing. I had to remove the passenger side trans to engine brace but it looks like it can be trimmed and reinstalled. And yes the right angled oil filter adapter is back in. Now I can actually replace the filter from underneath the car. Was too tight with the torsion bar in the way with the factory manifolds and head pipes.
