The coming death of just about every rock legend

Kind of inevitable that people who don't die young will eventually grow old, whether they're rock stars or not. That's a good thing.

What's sorta sad and a little perplexing is why musicians who had their careers peak 50-60 years ago are somehow still culturally relevant.

They are still culturally relevant because nobody better has come along to replace them.

Understatement of the century... "bands" today couldn't play a concert without computers & in my opinion still sound like crap..

Ever see a live performance by Pink Floyd? The Stones? The Eagles? Van Halen? Sammy Hagar? The Moody Blues? Heart? Yes? David Bowie? Bruce Springsteen?

Saw all of them, great stuff...

I missed these but my GF grew up in LA & hung out at the Roxy & the Whiskey, she got to see Jim Hendrix, Jim Morrison & The Doors, Otis Redding, The Stones...
She saw Jan & Dean perform @ a little gathering at a Thom McAn Shoe store...

We saw many of the same bands! Future generations will also miss out on the magic of festivals. Sure, they have festivals today but the best ones still feature the bands from our heyday. ****, in one day I saw Heart, Ted Nugent, and Blue Oyster Cult, among other less famous bands. Both Wilson sisters were still smoking hot, and B.O.C. had a forty foot inflatable Godzilla. Buddy and I had a chunk of brown hash the size of a bar of soap. For Hearts final song of the night they played Led Zeps “Rock ‘n Roll” and all of the lead guitar players from the other bands came and jammed with them. I can’t imagine five guys playing computers and record players having that same magic. When I saw Bowie he had Peter Frampton on guitar and besides playing Bowie’s best stuff Frampton cranked out a few of his hits. Freakin’ AWESOME!

That is so true, but yet so sad. Many I have idolized have passed on and many more are going to pass on more sooner than later. Kim

Yup!! The list above was from fading memory, lots more bands for sure... Frampton was/is great... saw him in the 70's & in 99 he performed at California Speedway for us weekend campers, sitting in my lawn chair with a cocktail watching Peter preform for close to two hours was incredible, We had camper at the track during the Indy car races since 97 & had no idea he was preforming... Every year after hours the infield is a huge party, lots of motorhomes have full open bars, you walk around & meet people.. Great Time... Well in 99 I spent less time visiting & more time enjoying one of my favorite performers.. What a treat..

I caught Eric Clapton a few times, saw him in 81 then again in 94 we got tickets the day of his show, totally unexpected, wound up center stage & in the first row of seats behind the open floor....

Still having trouble accepting that 1969 was 50 years ago. OMG.

I find it comforting to see that most of the younger generation I know are listening to classic rock and blues music. They also like seeing local bands live. Maybe it's just the circles I run in but the smarter ones can appreciate the talent it takes to play in a band that is "tight" unlike manufactured music.

You could go see Chuck Berry at Blueberry hill, he played there once or twice a month . He played in the Duck room. A great time!!!

Behold the killing fields that lie before us: Bob Dylan (78 years old); Paul McCartney (77); Paul Simon (77) and Art Garfunkel (77); Carole King (77); Brian Wilson (77); Mick Jagger (76) and Keith Richards (75); Joni Mitchell (75); Jimmy Page (75) and Robert Plant (71); Ray Davies (75); Roger Daltrey (75) and Pete Townshend (74); Roger Waters (75) and David Gilmour (73); Rod Stewart (74); Eric Clapton (74); Debbie Harry (74); Neil Young (73); Van Morrison (73); Bryan Ferry (73); Elton John (72); Don Henley (72); James Taylor (71); Jackson Browne (70); Billy Joel (70); and Bruce Springsteen (69, but turning 70 next month).

Hell of a musical generation!!!
Those were the DAZE!!:fool:

I don't care. The future is looking very bleak, and I won't be around for the coming BS. I just listen to my old music, and laugh in future's face.

Im happy to have been able to see the change from way back to present from these entertainers. And the memories will be just that . But the best part is they have left there marks in music via the 45s , 8 tracks, cassettes to CDs

with many of these celebrities/musicians & especially Rockers
some of them & their own life style or choices
some good, some really bad life choices

(burning the candle on both ends, endless travel, sleep deprived, day after day,
their fast cars, faster women, std diseases, alcohol abuse &/or along with drug abuse
)

I'm really surprised to see many of them, still alive

enjoy their music while you can
they don't get better with age

I think now, Geritol or Viagra is their current addiction :poke:

everyone has to go sooner or later

there's only 2 thing that are a certainty in life, death & taxes

They'll have to close the list for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, soon. Nobody else will qualify when the great ones are all dead.

This young woman is doing great service to many old classics with her drum covers.
Been binge watching her youtube videos lately and am truly impressed with her work.

A friend of mine introduced me to Sina's videos. She plays with some pretty good musicians and is keeping the old-style rock n' roll spirit alive.
