Gen II 426 Hemi is an RB engineYep, max wedge or not, it will fit (a 440). Anybody know for sure if it would fit an old 426 hemi? (I "think" it would fit that too)
I think what is being considered is that distributor might be rare, not necessarily the best, but valuable to one of the "numbers matching" guys. I don't know about that, but you might check. You might be able to help someone with a numbers matching max wedge & buy a better/newer ignition setup for your car....everybody wins.I got this ignition set and am wondering if it will fit a 1968 383 or a 1969 440 ?

Where's the copper plating and Blue Streak points?Gentlemen,
The distributor shown in the eBay link looks to be an "oldie but goodie". It uses a copper crush washer to seal it to the block unlike the later units use a O-ring. The close up views of the points, in my opinion, the points are Standard Ignition "Blue Streak" as they were the only ones I've seen with the copper plating and had the largest contact surface area of any of the other commercial points of the day. Some of the other features included a small red wick that contained a lubricant to reduce rubbing block wear. Both sets of points were ventilated to keep them cool and reduce ozone build up due to the small arc generated by the "break" point set. Because i still use an original Prestolite dual point distributor in my GTX, I'm always looking for Blue Streak points....yes they're still available....just have to look for them. I have an NOS Prestolite dual point distributor for a spare that I bought years ago from Great Lakes NOS that just happens to match the build date of the car.....no its not for sale.

I see say the blind man. Thought you were talking about points in op's dist. so his uses stand points.Fran,
If you go to the eBay link on post #10 and expand it, you'll see the points close up. Blue Streak components were copper flash plated as well as a thin copper conductor in place along side the spring to increase the conductivity by reducing the resistance.
The pix of the other distributor that appears in post #12, appear to use either regular points, not blue streak, without the secondary copper conductor by the spring or the flash plating.
Personally given a choice and availablity, I'd pick the Blue Streak part plus they last longer....up to 2x longer than other brands.....just my opinion of course.
