$500- 68 charger

I did a short test drive yesterday in front of my house and today I got brave and drove around the block. Everything felt great, no probs. Sorry didn't get vid., I'll get some soon. Think I'll go ahead and start putting the front end on.

Got a lot done today.

Went to the alignment shop today. They said I had it pretty close. The bill was only $65, and got a print out..ha.... Also got my insurance bumped up to full coverage low mileage driver. Made a couple more trips further out into my neighborhood. Now to fixing up the grill and installing it.

I'll bet you have a hard time keeping everyone back. That will draw attention where ever you go.

Right back at ya!.. Yep all the guys at the align shop were swarming before I got it off the trailer. On the way home I stopped by the auto parts store where I buy a lot of stuff to show it to the guys there, the parking lot filled up with people within a few minutes. And I've had people follow me home on the test rides around the neighborhood. My neighbors all want to ride in it also.. ha

Waiting for some trim clips/fasteners for the grill edge trim which has to be put on before installing the grill. Test fitted the glass front bumper., gonna leave it black for now but I hope to get it chrome wrapped somewhere this winter. Debated over painting the radiator front side black, leaving it alone for now.

Found a place for the r/t emblem. I patched, painted and assembled the grill. You may can see where I removed all the rest of the little fins from the bottom air slot since most were gone already. Rather than replace all those, I added 4 small metal brackets that I made and glassed them to it to get some strength back. I don't think most folks will notice. Should I take the grill frame back out to mount the grill in it, then put them in already together?

That is not much caster. Did he just defer to factory specs or did you request those numbers? Many alignment guys are lazy and don't take the time to align the car for decent handling.

Looks awesome. A lot of hard work and it is paying off now that you are so close to finished.

I think that it is easier to put the frame and grill together before installing it. You have so many screws and parts to install from all angles that it was easier for me to have it all together and then just slip it in.
Your grill looks great! I didn't know the bottom fins were missing until you pointed it out.

as said ,,it is better to assy the grill in the frame & install the complete assy.

Hope I don't piss you guys off but before I took the frame back off I had to try it.. It went in very easy, the trick was using silly putty to hold the upper inner plastic spacers in place... Got some nice all rubber floor mats to protect the carpet. Also got a fake gas cap for $13 instead using the big one I wasted $250 on.

I hope that you didn't take offense to my comments about the front end alignment. I prefer a car that corners more than a straight line drag race car. Caster is very important for a good handling car.
Great project. You have done quite well with it.

No not at all. I'm sorry I meant to answer your question and forgot.. The alignment guy ask me a couple of question about how I wanted it and mostly I just told him do what he thought best. He probably saw that I took the front sway bar off so I won't be doing any fast turns. Just straight line strips and very little and slow street driving. Thanks, good question..
