Torsion bar pits

Hello,
These torsion bars came out of a 68 gtx that was buried in a Iowa corn field slough.
They are pretty pitted.
I pulled them anyway, they sat in my garage for several years.
Are they more than pry bars now ?
I have read if your bars had a gouge in them to file it smooth, these might need to be put in a lathe.
Which I have access to.
Pretty much know not use them, but I gonna open this can of worms and see where they wiggle too.

FWIW I'm sure there are a bunch of cars running around with bars as bad or worse than that.
 
New ones are cheap...(relatively speaking in the Mopar world anyway..)
 
I look at those and think about all the posts I've seen with people bitchen about having trouble removeing and reinstalling torsion bars. I know I hate to toss out anything too, but you could'nt pay me to install those on any car.
 
PST 1.03 bars are inexpensive, no way I would use them.
 
I forget what the largest bar that will fit through the B-E hex is
I know I've used 1.1 in E bodies
but did we use C Body or pickup or Imperial D body crossmember hexes or install the bars then the crossmember
I forget- I'm not the chassis guy I just remember it being a royal PITA
do not kill yourself with those bars
Late model C bodies had around 1.080 bars PD and Wagons with TT
I put some in my 69 Polara 2 door- makes a big difference largest OEM was .98
 
I just won a set of 1.03 B bars no issues at all fitting in the hex. Man never thought about that they would have to be huge not to fit through, thinking 1 3/4 or so
