Before I bought my 69 RR last April, I was told that someone had put the car in the ditch and something hit the oil pan and sprung it. It has a 7 quart, aftermarket pan that hangs real low. Well, this week I'm going to dig into it. I've got a new replacement pan, gasket, and bolts. I'll start on it tomorrow; if I need to raise the engine I've got some help coming this weekend with an engine hoist. Hay Guys, let me know what you have used for a gasket sealer.

Depends on the gaskets
silicone in the corners just a dab
read the stickie on rear main seals
hylomar works

Don't need to raise the engine. Don't need to drop centerlink, just disconnect at idler & both tie rods to swing out of the way pivoting on the Pittman arm..

Hope you got a new pickup for the new pan. It's very likely the one used on that 7qt pan won't be compatible with the new one.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "dropping the center link". :)
Actually, I only took it loose at the idler, pittman and one tie rod to swing it out of the way.

Yep or it might have gotten ganked by the impact as well.

Thanks! Yup, got a new pickup also. My only worry at this point is whether or not I'll have to raise the motor. From what I've been reading; some say you don't have to; others say that had to raise just a little to get the fingers in to get some pan bolts in and out; others say you have to raise the engine about 6" to get the pan to clear the K-frame. I'll keep you posted as to what I find. Thanks Again!
