69 Super Bee Rebuild (my way)

For sure do the repair on both sides. After it has set, you can shape it with rough sand paper, then go to smoother grits just like you were rubbing out new paint. After a fine enough grit and some rubbing compound, the surface will have the same semi shine as the original and you'll even see some glass strands just as the factory made it.

Baby steps. Got my front directional lamps cleaned up.

I am going to buy a Strange S60 for the car eventually. Problem is that I am undecided on the rear tires, and in turn the rear end ratio. So I decided to clean up the 8 3/4 that came in the car to install until the decisions are made. Started with a crusty chunk of metal.

Cleaned up, blasted, epxoy primer, black paint on the housing and cast coat on the 3rd member. Used a scotchbrite at the end of a wire to clean out the insides of the tubes.

The car came with an open 3.23 rear. Got a clutch type sure grip from a buddy. Got that installed along with a crush sleeve eliminator, new gaskets, and seals. Replaced the left hand lugs with rights. Set axle end play.

If you need a pair of new repro lenses let me know.. .I have a set from Jamie still in the bags as I had to buy a full housing / lens set after the fact.
Will do.

Been playing with the ramcharger ductwork. First epoxied the broken piece back in.
Let that dry and then ground out all the thin stuff and the new glue joint with a Drehmel tool. Cut up a couple of playing cards to hold the fiberglass in place.

After the first layer of fiberglass. I let that dry, roughed it up and put 2 more layers on. Then took a small paint brush and spread more black plastic weld on the backside. I am going more for strength over looks back there so really didn't care what it looked like. Misted a bit of black SEM paint over the repair. I did spring for a new decal and gaskets. I replaced the 2 side ones, but am thinking of leaving the center one as it is actually in pretty decent shape.

Remember the box is NOT black... it's Brown..
Yes, I remember that discussion awhile back. I just kind of rubbed in the color to mask the lighter fiberglass repair on the front of the tab. It actually blended in ok with the rest of the original patina. At least good enough for me on this project. Definitely not going for a trailer queen.

In the past I have used that gal down south to restore my wiper motors, the woman who has gotten a terrible reputation. Knock on wood I have not had a problem with any of them, but needed to find someone else for the job. I ended up going with Bruce Somer and couldn't be happier with the results. Very fair pricing compared to others out there and I think it looks great. Completed and shipped back to me in the time frame quoted. He has a website Ns1aar.com and is a member on here ns1aar.

Joel I used her, took 4 months to finally get it back & wasn't really ideal at that. Glad you found a good guy!

It's been probably 7 and 8 years ago now since I had her do any work for me. Like I said, I never personally had any issues, except she talks to much. After reading about all the current horror stories though I just had to go elsewhere, and I'm glad I did.

Starting to feel like a little kid at Xmas time over here in WI. Got a call from my buddy asking for more supplies for the Bee. Stopped over to drop the stuff off and helped him take the hood off for the final prime and blocking. AND the best part is that he wants the body color and clear delivered next week. Everything is moving along nicely.
