Checking drive shaft angle

I want to check the angles on the driveshaft and rear end to make sure everything is with in tolerance. The 1969 FSM shows how to do this but they are using an old fashion bubble level. When I built my 68 Charger several years ago I had found the process on how to check it and the angles were in degrees. I cannot find that info right now.
Does anyone have this process showing the minimum and maximum angles for a 69 Charger, 440/auto.

Shop Manuals sometimes show those degrees in the Specifications Section. Along with Frame and Suspension measurements.
 
I usually roll the car until a u-joint cap is vertical (u-joint post up and down) and put the biggest socket on the u-joint cap that will seat fully and put my angle finder on the bottom of the socket. Then go to the other end and do the same. You can also measure the angle on the driveshaft but it's really the angle of the transmission output and the differential input that count.

This is true but you want the trans and diff angles the same when on the gas. That's why a leaf spring car can call for 3 degrees down in the diff from the trans angle because it will move up some when on the gas. This link is from Moparts but it gives a good idea right at the top. Ron

That Ron guy might be getting older but he he still knows stuff.....:lol:
 
Termec has a mobile app that’s pretty slick. App tells you where to place the phone and uses the level in the phone. At the end if you have all green angles you’re good to go.
 
I finally had time to check it. Engine and tranny read between 1.3º-1.4º, with the tail end of the tranny being the low side. The rear end is 4.4º, with the driveshaft end pointing up. I'm not sure about the rear end measurement, will try a different approach tomorrow.
 
Dang I hope you just didn't get a good measurement at the rear...or else the angles are off enough to need correcting. The rear should be about 3° below the plane of the trans, which as the rear end sees it, is 1.4° up. So the rear should be somewhere around 1-2° down, sitting still.
