A pair of 5/16 x 3" x 42" angle stock!

Who throws **** like this away?

Probably only a few hours from someone else digging it out and getting 45 cents for it at the scrap yard.

Had some kind of drywall mud or mortar and some spray foam on them.

Whatever.

Been kinda dry lately but I'll take them.

what are these?

this is the second one of these I've found, although the first one was shorter but solid.

Concrete form stake. You drive it into the ground, put the board up to it at height and drive a nail through the best available cross hole.

Probably was being used as a door or window lintel for a brick job. Many construction demo guys will haul anything out to the dumpster without regard for what it is, no exceptions.

That is used when forming for a concrete foundation. When you have your form boards in correctly you drive this down beside the board and then nail through the best hole to anchor the form.

Somebody has been trashing construction materials that have been taken out

I once found a practically brand new self propelled, bagger, mulcher lawn mower in a dumpster. Looked like it was used one season and put into a shed. Took it home and bought a carb kit 11.00 and had the mower for 12 years. People are just lazy or have more money than sense.

On garbage days there are dozens of pickups driving around collecting metal scrap. I don't actively go looking for it and don't waste my time on steel but I'll take any aluminum or copper (no barbeques - almost lost my thumb chiseling rusty bolts off). I don't even take my own steel scrap in - its just not worth the time and effort.

Years ago, steel paid a fair price at the recycler. Now? Uhhh, not so much.

We had a dumpster diver come picking through one of our construction dumpsters one time. He was pulling out metal studs, duct work and pipe.. Well he was trying to pull on a piece of conduit while standing on the 4 inch ledge. It came loose and he ended up flat on his back 6 feet down. We had to call the paramedics for the dude. Its not worth it for 60 bucks.

Not if you don't understand physics, it's not.

Now I know what that pointed steel object with the holes is. I saw that pic and thought I was looking at my own truck but my stake isn't bent.

cars/tin has dropped to below a 100 a ton here in ny.
short steel is at 135,long i think is 125 a ton.
theres literally no money left in scrapping.

everyone is trying to get scrap for Free now,
which doesnt really happen all that often, unless its a curbside pile.
im one of the few who still buys loads and cleanouts,
and i do a lot of flipping either parts or cars because its not worth crushing them.
if you are a scrapper, this winter is Going to be a tough one..stay warm.

Walked outside and next door in my neighbors trash are two Flexible Flyer steel runner sleds that look almost new, but are old. Picked them up, took them to main street where I was on my way to anyway and a guy I know that owns a shop down their trades me dinner for two for them. All this took me one hour, two weeks ago!! What are the odds that will ever happen again!!!

The best thing I ever found in a dumpster was at a self storage facility. They must have had an auction where no one bid on a locker. I saw this 15 yd dumpster from afar that had things in it that I couldn't quite figure out. Walked over to it, then ran and got my van. There were these stills made from 1/2 copper. Some were round, some were square using copper elbows. All of them had brass toilet flange bolts soldered in line to support them somehow. Filled more than half my van. They were painted, so they had to be considered dirty copper. I think it was about $1500.00. I'm thinking no one noticed they were copper because of the paint.

Commonly called a "curb pin" around here. Construction terms vary by local.
