Ric Ocasec ( the cars ) wont be down

RIP Ric

music of my youth, you will be missed

There was a recent thread here that said that basically every Rock and Roll icon was on the way out,but I didn't think it would start happening so soon!

There was a lot of chatter about this on the radio this morning. Apparently, there is quite a bit of confusion about his actual age. Not sure it matters to anyone at this point. What a great career! Awesome music, and his wife was one of the most beautiful women ever!!!!

Death[edit]

Ocasek was found dead in his New York City townhouse on September 15, 2019.[33] Office of the Chief Medical Examiner reports he died of natural causes (suffered from hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease), and was discovered dead by his estranged wife Paulina Porizkova.[34] Sources differed on Ocasek's age at the time of his death, with some, including public records, stating he was either 70 or 75 years old. Some obituaries, including that of The New York Times, contain both ages.[35]

Every song sounded better after a good smoke:fool:. But, their songs really sounded good.

RIP

Kiwigtx posted this video already but I thought I’d hit it again as it was mentioned Elliot Easton being under rated! Great solo in this one.. I think one of their best tunes!

Passed in his sleep. Best way to go if it’s your time. God bless and speed Ric

It was happy music.
I wonder if they were influenced a just little bit in the look and sound by early Roxy.

All I can add is

Rest in Peace . . .

Now I'm wondering . . . Who's gonna drive you home ? ?

Great music . . .

RIP. Rick
The best band with the most consistent sound from the late 70's/ early 80's. The Cars always sound good in your system.

A few of their better known tunes were actually sang by bassist Benjamin Orr who died several years ago but Rick was definitely the band's leader.

I don't know if they are similar, or not, but I think Roxy Music was one of the best bands of the early 70's.

I have an acoustic guitar in my health classroom for kids to come in a noodle around before school and between classes if they have time. Well, in tribute, I started playing My best Friend’s Girl. Not one kid recognized the tune! It was sad!

And no, it wasn’t a bad rendition!
