I just read on nhra.com that Tom Jobe, the last of The Surfers Top Fuel team (Bob Skinner, Mike Sorokin, and Tom Jobe) from the mid-'60s, passed on September 7th.
Although they were only together as a team for 3 years, they left great memories, a huge legacy, and a lot of stories.
Here's a link to a great article on them by Phil Burgess of nhra.com...

you have 2 Pro-Stock picks listed there

Hey Ski -
  • Post your Funny Car pick before Sunday eliminations start and you'll still pick up round win points. Qualifying already started so you'll be out qualifying bonus points for Funny Car.
  • Confirm your Pro Stock pick - you can't have both of 'em! LOL

Any Ron Capps Fans?

HOLY 339 MPH! It may be the second-fastest run in NHRA history, but as far as Ron Capps is concerned, his monumental blast of 339.28 mph on Friday at Maple Grove Raceway deserves its own place in history. Capps shattered the track record at Reading with the epic run of 3.837-seconds, starting the Countdown to the Championship in resounding fashion. READ MORE

My favorite driver in FC,
another born & raised Calif. Surfer Boy :poke:

that was an awesome pass, all 8 lit the whole way
great conditions, mineshaft air & great track
BUT;
strangely that 1/2 the TF & 1/2 the FC teams smoked the tires
go figure
Rahn Tobler is a great Crew-chief
still using a 5 disc clutch when most have gone to 6

TASCA for Funny Car
Erica Enders for Pro Stock
WTF am I doing?
(Same as last week)
So Sorry
My brain is fried!

Congratulations to 'Garry in AZ' (FABO) for winning the Top Qualifier title for the 2019 NHRA Mopar Express Lane Nationals with a very nice total of 27.5 bonus points. He picked the #1 qualifier in both Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle, the #5 qualifier in Top Fuel and the #6 qualifier in Funny Car. Way to go!
'cuda20' (FABO), 'memike' (FABO) and 'ocdart' (FABO) shared the runner-up qualifying spot with 25.5 bonus points.

More great picks!

We have 16 players this week and 14 different driver combos made up of:
* 6 different Top Fuel drivers with two Round 1 head-to-head matchups. One between #6 qualifier Mike Salinas (1 pick) and #11 qualifier Billy Torrence (2 picks); and the other between #8 qualifier Steve Torrence (9 picks) and #9 qualifier Clay Millican (1 pick). There is a possibility of one head-to-head matchup in Round 2.
* 8 different Funny Car drivers with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between #7 qualifier Tommy Johnson Jr. (2 picks) and #10 qualifier J.R. Todd (2 picks). There is a possibility of three Round 2 head-to-head matchups.
* 3 different Pro Stock drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. The earliest possible head-to-head matchup would be in the semi-finals.
* 4 different Pro Stock Motorcycle drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There is a possibility of a head-to-head matchup in Round 1.

Good luck all!
