The oil slinger is installed with the wide portion facing outward toward timing chain cover?
Also, I reused my old one, and it just slipped over the crank kind of easily. Is it ok for it be loose, or should I toss it and get a new one?

The installation is correct. Not a problem if it is a little loose, the balancer will press against it and stop any movement.

Thanks. So if it can slide all the way up against the timing chain, that's cool?

As long as you are putting it on after the chain set, yes, of course. It shouldnt contact anything but the crank gear and the balancer in the end.

Kern is correct! If you install it facing the other direction it will eat your timing chain.

No, against the crank gear. There is a "step" to the slinger, an offset. The offset goes away from the gear.

I have it installed the same way as in your pic. It just seems loose, it can wiggle around pretty easily.
Yes, up against the crank gear.

It should never touch the chain. Do like the photo above or this will happen. Metal maker.

Yes it’s a bit loose on the crank, thy all are. The balancer holds it tight to the lower gear, it’s. Not loose anymore.

I guess those should be stamped with THIS SIDE OUT !

Didn't Chrysler discontinue the slinger when they came out with the double lip crank seal?
