Interesting article on the #88 Charger Daytona

Good ol' Buddy Baker

so the car that's touted as the record breaker is/was a clone ?
that figures
the real #88 car is/was back behind some ol' dudes shop in Iowa for 25 years

cool story RC

I always liked watching Buddy Baker race. He was a "good ole boy" racer from back in the time when stock car racing was actual stock car racing. It's kind of amazing that such a historic car was sitting out in the open rusting away. You would think it would be worth some serious $ restored or not.

Interesting photo you posted. One of mine, pointing out a small area that was rubbing the tire during the 200 mph run. Yes - the tires hit the hood inner and not the scoop area. Nice, vintage, photographic proof, the best type.

And be careful when you buy a car for parts and start removing stuff - always find out the history first! Lesson learned...

Wow..what a story.
I still say again. My dream car:
Superbird clone (so as to not alter a real one) Hellephant engine, a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission that can handle the power, and the absolute best suspension system installed and brakes, wheels and tires.
Enough geography to see what top speed is.
Man Oh Man!

The Chrysler document.
As can be seen, it first surfaced in 1997. The Talladega Museum has known all these years that they have a fake car.....
in fact, they knew it a year before the original was found in Iowa.
