Doing a conversion on a 69 B body Belvedere from drum to disc.

A Body spindles.

Question: do you mount the spindles so the calipers are on the front of the wheel or towards the back? I have a factory sway bar and don’t want any interference.

I know on early A bodies you have to mount so the calipers are to the rear or the calipers will hit the sway bar otherwise.

I mounted mine toward the rear just because I think that it looks better that way. I've had them both ways though. The 1970 B body sway bar is different than yours.
 
Mounted to the rear. You will need custom lines - call Doctor Diff and tell him what you're doing - he stocks them.
 
@Billccm is right. And thanks for the heads up @Stanton

The secret sauce for the brake line when rear mounting the caiper is to use a 15” long brake hose. Yes the 69 Camaro line is one choice, Dodge diplomat and Chrysler 5th ave etc also use the brake you need too. I spoke with Cass years ago when doing an A body conversion. This is when I learned this the first time.

Kern Dog, in your circumstance (because the 70 sway bar won’t interfere) it would probably be better for the caliper to be front mounted that way the brake line input into the caliper is closer to the steering axis of inclination. The hose moves significantly less when mounted this way.

It’s kind of like keeping the input in the same spot as a wheel cylinder would be (right on the axis) the did it for a reason. If rear mounted, which is probably what I have to do, the hose has to move a long distance every time you turn lock to lock. One way to prevent this when rear mounting would be to redo the hard line supply to come from in front of the axis. When caliper is front mounted the supply comes from behind the axis. Which is the way most Mopars are.

Calipers go to the rear, you need a short hose and you need the correct calipers. Doctor Diff has what you need.
 

I probably had it wrong in terms of the length of the hose. You are Right, what I meant or was trying to say was regarding the movement of the line is less when if the hard mount is behind and the caliper is forward OR if the hard mount line is forward and the caliper mount is behind

If that makes sense....
