So I'm sure this has been covered before many times but didn't see anything. I just bought a 74 SE Charger with the 400 Hi performance big block motor. I've always owned small blocks so this is a new thing for me. The guy I bought it from has cheap 7MM wires on it that look like they maybe cost $20. I want to get some decent 8MM wires on the car, preferably ones that are assembled. Any suggestions??

Thanks!
Alan

I bought sum-G619 from summit. Custom fit 8mm silicone for big block mopar. I have not installed them yet, but very impressed with apparent quality, and what sold me on them was that they come with 5 90° boots, and 3 straight boots, like stock. Blue or red, under $40.

Sound great. Right now I'm looking at Taylor 74272, about $52 on summit. These say they have six 90 degree and two 45/135 degree, but I wasn't sure if that was stock. You should get that set on and see if they all fit right. That's always my biggest concern. Do you have a link to those? Nothing is coming up under that number on Summit Racking. Thanks!

Did find some under Sum-G819.. so maybe those are the ones you meant.

They will be going on a 440 with an ancient set of hooker adjustable headers, and i will probably have to juggle them around. Cylinder 7 and 8 go over the intake and around the back of the head. Cylinder 5 and 6 are the nightmare with these headers, they have to be straightboot.
Link is my screwup, bad vision... SUM-819

Firecore has everything figured out for your set-up.

You might pay a little more but you can't beat the quality, fitment and service. I paid enough for a set of MSD's and they really sucked. Wouldn't even stay on the plugs. Crapola! Had Rick make me a set and two years later they still work and look great.

MSDs worked fine for me in the GTX. A little pricey tho. You pay too much for the name.....

Thanks. I went to the site, a custom set like it looks like you had done is probably out of the question. The wires on my car are obviously not the correct factory lengths, you can tell how they are ran. So measuring them for Rick is out. I keep landing on these two sets, the only ones that I see specify a fit for a 400 motor. Looks like I just need to tell them the coil wire length. Thoughts?

If you're useing factory manifolds, then the set for stock is what you want, as far as lenth goes. If you're looking for high performance with headers, they have them already made also. If you're not sure or just have questions, call. He's great to deal with.

Thanks! Yes just stock manifolds, so I'm assuming one of those sets is what I want. I'll give them a call on Monday.

Bigblock wires they offer on product list are made based for earlier setups. 73 and lates big blocks use longer wires specially for driver side.

IF they saved my order, they got the factory spark plugs measurements for big blocks that I sent

My email is [email protected] just in case they keep saved old orders and you want to make the wires with correct measurements.

I bought a NOS 73 and lates big block spark plug wires setup just to get the correct measurements made by them

Thanks, great info. I'll be getting the car tomorrow or Friday morning, so have been waiting, figuring I would need the coil wire length, but if they saved your order they should know exactly what I need. Curious what NOS wire set did you buy to get the correct measurements? I bought a set from Classic for my 73 Charger small block once, and several wires were too short. They admitted they knew it when they sold it to me, but only offered me 10% off a second set so that I would have enough wires. I haven't bought anything from them since!
