The engine was a 2bbl 383 with cast crank. So I am assuming a 1971 model year.

Any ideas?

Shown above is our original factory USED "187" oil pan, Chrysler part number 2532186. See the table at the bottom of this page for exact applications, but in general, this pan was used from 1965-71 on "C" body cars with 383's and 440's. These make a great pan for swapping big block's into "A" bodies because of the notch for suspension clearance.

I love these discussions, because the one thing harder to find than original parts, is an original parts guru!! So does anyone know what a #2863892 or a #2946706 pan looks like??? That's the original oil pan #'s for 67-68 & 69 model year A-bodies, as according to 440 Source's list. I use the #187 C-body pan in my Dart and believe me it's still a funky fit, even with the motor shimmed, leveled and jockeyed, lol. I have heard that there are odd and long idler arms on some A-bodies so maybe that's my problem?

More accurately, the notch is for IDLER ARM clearance...Steering clearance, not suspension.

The "893" 67 to 69 big block A-Body oil pan is available as a nice reproduction now from a variety of vendors. Much better paying $200 for a new pan vs the $500 to $800 that the pans were bringing a couple years ago for banged up originals.

I was referring to the 893 big block A-Body oil pans bringing strong dollars prior to the reproductions coming available. The 187 C-Body pan is readily available and most of the ones of that variety were $40 to $50 when I had them.

Was an "893" pan stamped as such, like the "187"'s and "402"'s etc??

The 893 is stamped in the pan as the others that you mention.

On 440 source they called it "TIE ROD CLEARANCE". I had to stop and think about it!

If I can sell "187" pans on FABO for $900 a piece, I'm gonna be rich soon. That's why. Chill. I looked, they go for $60-$80.....

I undid the rating, cuz it seemed to have struck a nerve with you.
